Is It Worth Losing Everything?

We had to lay extremely low as of now. Russia treats things a lot more serious when it comes to their military advancements. Also with Kimiko's wounds and very few medical equipment, all we could do was look over everything we got from the lab. M.M and I watched some of the tapes he got, and it was just tests that they did on him. He was in pain, but I had to remember that he's an asshole who deserves it. All of those Supes do.

We sat in silence watching the recording go. They did everything imaginable to him to get their info. "How the fuck's that cunt still breathing?" A gravelly voice came up beside us. Butcher. He continued, "Twenty sieverts of radiation. Sulfuric acid cocktails. More or less shoved Chernobyl right up his arse. I'll wager that's how he got them nasty new powers." "Really? Didn't think about that," I quipped with my eyes on the TV. I felt him look down at me with a stink eye, but I thought nothing of it. In the tape, Soldier Boy got enough strength to break out of the bindings holding him to the table and attacked multiple doctors. They all fled, and the room started to fill with some kind of gas to knock him out. While this was happening, Butcher kept talking, but to M.M this time. "Listen, mate, we can't hang about here looking for him, right? He's Ivan's problem now. We got to get Kimiko home to a proper doctor," He tried to get to him. We both scoffed at that. "You don't give a shit about Kimiko. Or anyone else," M stated lowly. I nodded with him, "I do agree we have to get her to a doctor and that you don't care for Kimiko, but we're talking about fucking Soldier Boy wandering around possibly killing millions. What if he wanders into the states?" Butcher scrunched up his face in annoyance, "Oh, come off it, mate. I took a fucking drug."

"A drug that could've killed you. A drug that who knows what is doing to you right now. But hey, I don't know shit about you, right?" I blurred out in a huff, getting up and walking away. His eyes hardened at me, "Didn't I just save our asses?!" I turned around to glare at him and M slowly stood up to get in his face. "You killed Gunpowder, didn't you?" "For once, I leveled the fucking playing field," Butcher replied smugly. M shook his head in disappointment, listening to this bullshit. He got close, talking quietly, "The whole point of what we do, the whole goddamn point, is that no one should have that kind of power." "I happen to live right down here, mate, on planet Earth." He looked to, saying the same thing with only his eyes. Just as he was about to head off, I stepped in front of him. I sighed, "I want to get the bastard too, I do! This way ain't the fucking way though! Is leveling worth losing everything we've worked for? When the hell are you going to stop?!" His posture straightened up, looking me dead in the eye with a blank yet dark expression. He said, "When Homelander is dead. The same blonde cunt who offed the last family who didn't disown you." My hand snatched up his throat, squeezing quickly to have him grabbing for my wrist. He tried pulling me off, but I didn't budge. While he kept struggling, I trapped his feet and hands with some rock. I kept my stare in his eyes, matching his dark stare from a moment ago that was now slight panic.

"Myra....he ain't worth it, and you know it," I heard M say. My grip stayed where it was, and I didn't move an inch. Until M put a hand on my shoulder, trying to pull me off of him. I dropped him, retracting the rock and letting him walk off. "Thanks, M," I rubbed my temples slowly. We went back to sitting by the TV, watching some other tapes. He paused one of them, looking at me. "How much do you care for Butcher?" He asked me suddenly. That was an odd question to ask, but a very thoughtful one at the same time. I didn't answer or even look at him while thinking about it. "I know you care enough to not leave him here, and find his own way back," He commented. I chuckled at that, but it died down faster than I thought when I kept thinking to myself. Given a moment of silence, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, "I...I...I told him not to take it. Even though it's temporary, it's still V. What's worse is that it's still in R & D, it's fucking killing him. He won't listen to me, fine. I'll let him have his way for now." I got up and walked away, going to see how Kimiko was doing. It wasn't well. Against my better judgement, we had to go back and get her to a doctor.
