~One day prior~
"Alpha! Alpha come quick!: He jumped up from behind his desk and rushed towards the yelling downstairs. His Beta stood over another pack member, Jaxon, who was severely injured. "Jaxon? What happened?" Axton asked, kneeling down beside the injured boy. "Rogues on the southern territory." "What?!" "We tried to...to fight back but they quickly outnumbered us," Tyler said slowly, his voice full of emotion. "Any casualties?" "No Alpha, only a few injured. Jaxon's the worst." "I'll get Micha, in the meantime get everyone in the meeting room." He demanded, mind linking the pack doctor.
"Ok listen up. We are gonna send out some of the Scouts to some of the neighboring packs, and warn the others. These sightings have only been increasing. We need to get a group together to start trying to get the Rogues under control before this becomes worse than it already has. I want any Rogue, killed on sight. It's time to go on the defensive. Its time to search them out. No survivors!" Axton ordered. "Alpha if I may?" Luke, the Gamma stood slowly and Axton nodded toward him. "I think we have figured out what they are trying to do." "Which is?" "I...well we think they are targeting Alphas. We received word from the Northern pack late yesterday afternoon. Their pack was attacked by an outstanding number of Rogues. Both the Beta and Gamma were killed and they are still unsure if the Alpha will make it through the weekend." Luke said sadly.
From all around the table came the shocked murmurs, as Axton sighed heavily. He had known the Alpha of the northern pack since they were kids, they weren't really close, but it still hurt. "The Wingspar pack from the mountains just lost their Alpha and Beta too, but their Gamma survived I think." Another pack member added. "So what's gonna happen with the northern pack now?" Another asked. "If the Alpha lives they'll be okay," Tyler said. "He won't." Everyone turned their attention to Micha who walked in slowly. "Micha...how's Jaxon?" Tyler asked, but Micha sighed heavily and looked at Axton with sad eyes.
The Alpha hung his head. "I've given I'm some morphine to make him comfortable. His wolf is too weak and he's gonna need the morphine when his wolf dies. His human side is still fighting to hold on but I am not hopeful." "We need to find these Rogues and get rid of them once and for all," Tyler growled. "Why do they want to target the Alphas, Betas, and Gammas for anyway?" Luke asked. "Because killing them leaves a pack of lone wolves. The fear of not belonging drives them crazy, causing them to go Rogue." Axton explained. "With all due respect, it would be safer not only for the pack; but also for you and me and Luke if we stayed behind," Tyler explained and Axton let the idea linger. He and Tyler had been closer than best friends their entire lives and everyone always assumed they were really brothers.
"He has a point Alpha; but my only opinion is, Tyler and Luke aside from you, are the best fighters. We can't keep the three of you here, but it would be more beneficial.....if you alone stayed behind. No offense to them, but you are the utmost important one to protect right now Alpha." Micha added. Tyler and Luke nodded their heads respectively at him. They knew what he meant, and they had long accepted their titles. They would be a loss if something happened, and everyone would be hurt, but to lose an Alpha is the worse pain a pack can suffer.
The Scouts led the rest of the pack through the territory, leaving Axton alone at the pack house. He looked out the window of the living room, as the last few of the pack disappeared into the woods. The Sentinels turned back towards the house, nodding respectfully to Axton before going back to patrolling. With much reluctance, Axton had finally agreed to stay at the house. He knew they were being cautious, but he was the Alpha. He should be out there with them.
He lay down on the couch, getting comfortable, groaning loudly flipping through the channels on the tv. Being stuck, by force in his own pack house, alone was boring. Finally, he turned off the tv, deciding to head into the kitchen for a shower still groaning. "Ugh! The least they could have done was left me something to do." He complained, making himself a sandwich. He settled back on the couch, with his sandwich and a bag of chips, and hit the Netflix channel. Inside his wolf was growling, begging to be let out. Axton couldn't blame him. He was wanting to get out and stretch, but Micha and Tyler had warned him, and practically begged him to stay inside.
He took a bite of his sandwich as a crashing sound caught his attention outside. He ran out the back door, looking around suddenly. "Who's here?!" He called, but nothing. Another crashing sound come from the side of the house as he ran suddenly in that direction, but come up short. There was nothing there. What the hell was going on? Axton let his wolf suddenly to the front, his tall, tan legs becoming fur. His back bent and stretched until he suddenly crouched down and his paws touched the ground. The noise grew louder as he ran into the woods behind the house, Axton pushing his wolf to run faster. His wolf complained about his concern and Axton knew he was right. They shouldn't have left the pack house, but he had to know what the noise was.
He didn't like taking orders from his pack. He made the orders. Axton slowed to a walk, finally agreeing with his wolf as they turned to head back but stopped short. He was surrounded by Rogues. They were all standing ready for a fight, their fur matted and Axton looked around. Rogues weren't like the wolves. They couldn't shift just when they wanted to, and their wolves were scary to look at. Matted fur, dark red eyes. They looked like the stereotypical version of human's idea of werewolves. Axton's wolf growled dangerously, but they didn't budge. "You're trespassing!" Axton's wolf mind-linked the first, biggest Rogue. "What's wrong "Alpha" ?" The Rogue linked back in an evil laugh. Axton's wolf took a step backward but quickly recoiled as a Rogue snapped at his heels.
Axton was known for being the toughest Alpha, he didn't hesitate when it came to a fight, but even he knew when he was outnumbered. The Rogue took another step toward him, but Axton lunged forward in a mock attempt to scare the Rogue. Before he could move back, the other Rogues attacked. Biting his neck and sides. Bellhamy growled, snapping his jaws around one's neck, killing it instantly. They jumped on top of him, biting down as he struggled to fight back. There were too many. Axton's wolf stood panting. He had easily taken out more than a hundred Rogues but took a few serious injuries himself. He was becoming weak and desperately needed his pack. The first Rogue laughed again through the link. "What's wrong Alpha? Getting tired?" Axton growled again. "I wonder what your pack will do when they get here and see you dead? Or we could kill them first?" The Rogue growled as from behind Axton, Tyler, Luke, and the pack appeared.
Axton turned his attention toward his Beta, relief filling him as his wolf struggled to stay on all fours. His attention pulled from the Rogue as he lunged suddenly viciously attacking Axton. Tyler and the pack suddenly joined in the fight, going after the last few Rogues. The biggest Rogu bit down into Axton's neck as blackness swallowed him suddenly. He looked up again, right before he fell into the darkness, as Tyler pulled the Rogue off of him chomping down on the Rogue's head and ripping it from his body.
