Chapter 10

The same night

 After they were led to their shared rooms and changed into their pajamas. Both Merlin and Meguro were having a hard time sleeping. It wasn't from the heinous crime that they've committed but the fact that they are at a completely new environment. It was a weighing feeling on their chests. Merlin tossed and turned in her bed as Meguro just lied there on his back, staring at the ceiling.
"Meguro..." Merlin groaned.
"I can't sleep.." She continued.
She turned towards her brother, only to see him still staring at the ceiling. She then sat up on her bed as she stared at him with her beady eyes. Meguro never acknowledged her complaint. His face shifted, sensing that Merlin was waiting for him to respond. 
"Not right now, Merlin..." Meguro sighed before turning to face the wall beside him.
"I see..."
And with that, Merlin lied back in her bed tried to get comfortable. Somehow, someway. She felt a bit hurt. This was literally the first time Meguro doesn't want to talk to her. Maybe he just needs time to think. Or maybe he's just tired. But whatever it is, he will be back to normal by tomorrow. Both of them ended up falling asleep into a sleepless night.

Both of them were woken up around 4 am in the morning. Both of the children groaned as they tried to rub the sleepiness out of their eyes. There stood Katsumasa at the doorway with his hand on the light switch.
"Masaki. Merlin. Get up, your training starts now." He ordered.
As much as the two of them wanted to talk about and protest against the early training but knew that Katsumasa wouldn't listen to them and would increase their training duration. So, they just bit their tongue and stayed quiet. Meguro then looked at Merlin with his sleepy eyes and noticed that her face was a bit swollen. Slight bruises peppered her pale skin around her injury. The two quickly got out of bed and followed Katsumasa to their changing room. 
"You're uniform is in there. Change into it and I'll show you where you will be training." Katsumasa smiled sinisterly.
The two didn't pay any mind to his weird behavior and went in to change. And from this day on out, the twins trained under Katsumasa.

While they were vigorously training, the soft audio of the News was playing in the background.
"With just in, 5 dead bodies were found on Thursday, November 22, 19XX. In connection with tonight's brutal murders..."
Merlin stopped her training and looked at the Tv to listen in. Meguro groaned before paying attention to the tv as well.
"The witnesses had described to police the scene was Manson-like in its viciousness. And more horrific than anything Hollywood could imagine. Lynae Gordan's mutilated body was found lying headless on the cobblestone walkway in Bunchwood National Park. Apparently, she had been stabbed 17 times with a large kitchen knife and had her eyes plucked out and her fingers cut off. Her friends, Nikki Mora, Taylor Pittman and Meriel Kaufman, bodies were found scattered near Bunchwood National Park Woods. The victim of an apparent vicious beating with an unknown object. Along with those 4 young girls, the fifth victim, Hiroki Meguro, was found mangled. Meguro's bones seemed to be severely broken and twisted. These heinous crimes were all linked to the same killers. Meguro's very own children, Boy M and The Grim Reaper."
And with that, they showed a picture of Meguro and Merlin, but their faces were blurred out.
"Of course, we'll have much more on this horrific story as it develops. But for now, five people brutally murdered, Boy M and The Grim Reaper, are nowhere to be found."
The News then led to another boring topic, making the twins losing their interest in continuing to watch it. Merlin then looked at her brother for a moment. 
"Boy M? That's the name they gave you?" She chuckled.
Meguro just looked at her, he seemed triggered at her statement. 
"Don't worry. I think it's quite... unique." 
The room was dead quiet before Meguro spoke up.
"You used a knife... didn't you?" He asked in a low, raspy voice.
A stream of sweat slowly trickle down her face.
"I... I did. I just used in in the heat of the moment-"
"Dammit, Merlin!" He roared at his sister.
Merlin got startled by his sudden raise of voice.
"Did you learn anything from what I taught you?! Just what do you not understand?!" Meguro asked his sister, his wide eyes stared at her.
Merlin just stared back at him, unable to answer his question. Meguro then pounced on top of Merlin, causing her to stumble over and hit the concrete floor with full force. This caused Merlin to cry out in pain before Meguro placed a rough hand over her mouth to silence her. 
"Shut up, Merlin! Shut up! You have no reason to cry!" He hissed at his younger sister. 
"Why can't you be like me? That's all I ask of you."
And with that, he grabbed her by her gi and threw her over his shoulder. Merlin hits the floor with a loud thud, a sharp hiss escaped her mouth.

He was just like their father. 

No matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape Meguro's rough grip. Strike after strike, Merlin survived each of Meguro's attempt of killing her.  This made the young boy visibly frustrated. This frustration grew with every attempt after seeing his sister getting back up after his brutal attack. He could only last a while before acting out of anger... and he did. Meguro pounced on Merlin once more. He clawed at her face, red trail marks peppering her skin. The tears streaming down Merlin's face stung it as her hands weakly went onto her brother's one. Her eye was swollen, and her face was drenched in blood. Her stitches were torn and the wound on her nose bridge re opened and was bigger than last time. Merlin has lost a couple teeth at this point. Her soft and short gasps for air between her sobs for mercy were the only reason why he eased up on her. Tears of blood runs down Meguro's face as he stared at her, a wide psychotic smile plastered on his face.
"Hmm. Why can't you just drop dead already?" He cackled.
"I don't like you."
And with that, he got off her and walked away, leaving Merlin's wheezing body behind. 

Meanwhile, Katsumasa was watching the whole ordeal through a hidden camera. He made sure they were training around the time the news was about to play. He planned this entire thing, and it was a great success. He wanted the two to fight and despise each other. 

This is the very first step of his well-developed plan...
