happy place (plural happy places) (idiomatic) A mental visualization of a pleasant location, to avoid thinking or dealing with something unpleasant or painful.

A happy place is exactly what Ophelia needed but when one is surrounded with memories of their past no matter where they go, escapism is futile.

She sat on the hard unstable floor of her treehouse near dragonspine.

She hoped Diluc wouldn't tell Kaeya because the bluenette knew about her hideout since it's where the knights had found her.

"I don't want to go back home." She sniffled to herself, tears beginning to play at the corners of her eyes like raindrops on a brittle leaf, threatening to fall.

She curled up on the floor as if someone had kicked her in the stomach and the tears that were gently falling from her bright, now glassy eyes were causing her cheeks to swell.

She was tired, tired of being pushed around by adults, tired of being pushed around by other kids, tired of being pushed away for not being enough.

Her eyelids grew heavy, her tears dispersing down her cheeks as they were forced out of her eyes as sleep overcame her.

"THAT WRETCHED CHILD WONT STOP BAWLING." Ophelia saw the all too familiar shadow open her bedroom door.

She curled into the corner of her bed flinching constantly, preparing herself for whatever physical or verbal attacks would come her way.

Before the shadow could come any closer the doorbell rang melodically.

The shadow let out a vocal sigh.

"Ugh that stupid child is here again"

Ophelia hesitantly followed behind the shadow towards the door and down the stairs before coming to the large rounded door at the bottom.

"Hey auntie ### oh and the little birthday girl too."
The soft voice behind the door spoke as the shadow opened the door.

"Just bring her back by 8:30 Emiko." Ophelia stepped towards her chipper cousin as she made a promise to the shadow.

"Hey, the birthday girl shouldn't be crying let's cheer you up huh." She said out of earshot as they stepped onto Emi's carriage.

"I've got something cool to show you. Wataru made a new investment and he's willing to open it for one extra hour, just for us."

"What is it?" The inquisitive little girl asked jumping in her seat a little.

"It's a surprise" Emi said her pearly white hair falling onto her shoulders as the cart came to a stop.

It was beautiful.

A utopia, an escape from everything.

It was a traditional Fontaine fair. It had carousels and a large Ferris wheel and one of those lighthouse looking helter skelters.

The gentle saviour that was her cousin Emi began dragging her around until the stars were dotting the night sky.

It was getting late so the pair stepped into the Ferris wheel for one last ride before Ophelia would have to return to her hell.

"Cousin Emi why can't I stay with you and your brothers?" The petite girl said out of the blue as the wheel had ascended to its peak displaying the vast city of Fontaine out in front of them like a kids toy set.

"I'm sorry Ophi, I've really tried but you know what ### thinks about me. Due to the restraining order I can barely see you, it's honestly a miracle that i can be with you today but I promise I will do whatever is in my power to have you with us and get you out of that nasty contract. Okay?" The two sat in solemn silence silently wishing for things to be different.

"Kaeya you have to know something about where she'd be!" The redhead exclaimed clearly agitated at his brothers laid back attitude.

"I might know a place but it's a little far out." The bluenette replied as the two exited springvale and proceeded into windrise.

Kaeya thought it was a little bizarre seeing his brother care for another person so much but it was a welcome sight.

Loose stones near the big boulders cracked under the pairs' boots and the wind through the grass eroded the fabrics of Diluc's.

Kaeya pointed to a tree in the distance.

"What are you pointing at there's nothing th-"
"Look closer."

A small structure could be observed on the tree. It was a small treehouse without a roof and you could faintly see a baby blue blanket poking out from a gap in the wood.

"Ophelia"

'Who's calling me?'

"Ophelia are you up there!?"

'That voice'

"OPHELIA!!"

Ophelia shot up from her slumber knocking her head on a branch that was stationed above the rickety hideout
