Superboy x M!Crock!Reader.

If there was one thing Dick knew he was, it's observant. Like he's been observing his new team since the moment they all met up in the mountain before going out to the beach. M'gann seemed infatuated with Superboy, but Superboy seemed otherwise occupied.

The moment that Dick and his older adopted brother, (Y/n), stepped out of the Zeta-Beam Superboy's eyes were glued to (Y/n). This was the first time that he had worn something other than the full body black suit with the full faced cowl, and solid black cape. (Y/n) wasn't the biggest fan of giving anyone any kind of clue to figuring out who he was. He had a bad past and none of it was stuff he did, but Dick understood the hesitancy of letting others know of his heritage.

(Y/n) Crusher Crock was his original name, but surprisingly his worst trauma wasn't from his father. Sportsmaster had gotten himself and his family into a bad spot with Black Mask. He couldn't pay back a debt he owed, but Black Mask offered a solution that he couldn't refuse. All debts between the two would be paid if he handed over his only son, and Sportsmaster reluctantly agreed. For 3 years (Y/n) was stuck there hoping, wishing, for anyone to come and save him. At first he hoped his Dad would come back and take him back home, but after the first year he gave up on that notion. (Y/n) was only 10 when Batman raided one of Black Masks hide outs, and found him. Bruce immediately started searching for any living family for the boy.

He wasn't expecting to find that he had rescued the son of a dangerous villain. When Bruce presented the dilemma to Commissioner Gordon, they immediately looked into Sportsmaster. Mostly to see if he was still active or retired, and they discovered that despite having 3 kids he was still active. They decided it was too dangerous to allow him to go back, and asked the boy if he wanted a new family. (Y/n) immediately agreed, but Bruce still wasn't satisfied. He wanted to know how and why Black Mask had Sportsmasters son. This was the only time that Bruce could recall that Black Mask was especially chatty. He spilled his guts about everything that happened. After having (Y/n) analyzed at a hospital they reported no sign of sexual assault. Every muscle in Bruce's body seemed to relax at that, but he tensed back up when they showed him his x-rays. The boy did show signs of extensive physical abuse, but Bruce could guess what it was for.

Black Mask was training this boy to be just like him, because he had no children of his own. Black Mask had shown in the past that he wanted a son, but Bruce didn't think he would go this far. So he paid Black Mask one more visit, where the criminal confessed to trying to train (Y/n) to be like him. Telling Bruce and I quote, "I could've been the parent, that I deserved to have, for him." Then informing Batman that he would nolonger be accepting visitors. Childhood trauma drives everyone different ways, and for (Y/n) it seemed he was happy to be a vigilante.

However, that didn't mean he wasn't scarred from his 3 years in Black Masks hold. Physical scars littered his body, and mental scars were visible in his dialogue. He spoke when he needed to, but mostly relied on his body language. Dick wanted nothing more than for his older brother to make a connection with someone. He had hoped that when he started at Gotham Academy that he would meet someone there. But the older boy didn't seem interested in the girls there, or the boys.

As they proceeded onto the beach they stopped close to the shore.

"Hello Megan! We should go to the beach everyday!" M'gann said excitedly and Dick feigned a mourning look.

"First, a moment of silence for our absent comrade." Dick said in an amused voice, and he could've sworn he saw a smirk appear on his brothers face.

"Poor Wally." M'gann said and (Y/n)'s amusement fell from his features.
