The sunlight lit up part of the room through the curtains. Daichi rolled over to turn of his alarm on his phone. Sugawara rolled over with him, hugging his arm when he tried to move it. He picked up his phone with the other hand and opened messages.
One unread message from "Keiji Akaashi"
He opened it quickly.
From Keiji Akaashi: turns out there are more neighbors than I thought. Some people I haven't met dropped off a house warming gift. It's a painting of the river! How cool is that?! Anyway, my neighbor and I are curious who sent it and hope to find out this week.
The message really said that there was someone else involved and that's who caused the scene at the river, and that they were going to get involved.
"Shit," Daichi muttered as softly as possible. Sugawara mumbled something in his sleep that Daichi couldn't understand. He calmly sat up, trying not to disturb his partner next to him. He almost stood up before he was stopped by a hand on his bare back.
"What's wrong?" Sugawara's voice was tired. He sat up on one arm, rubbing Daichi's back with the other.
"Nothing," he reassured, "nothing, just work," he stood up and walked to the bathroom. He was out again in two minutes, semi-rushing around the room for find clean clothes. He started buttoning up a white shirt he found in the closet.
"You have to go? It's only seven... I thought..." he was sitting up in the bed. His face was full of disappointment. Daichi wanted desperately to stay with him.
"I know. I wish I could stay but-" he was struggling to pull on his pants.
"Duty calls?" Sugawara guessed with a sarcastic smirk on his lips. Daichi smiled softly.
"Duty calls," he leaned over the bed and kissed his partner on the top of his head. He grabbed his coat before he opened the bedroom door to leave, "I love you!" He added before closings the door behind him. Suga sat in the quiet room for a minute before another "I love you!" Came from the the front door before the sound of it closing left the apartment silent. Suga chuckled a little and pulled the sheets over him to go back to bed.
