The whole pit was silent, until the heavy stillness was shattered by a shrill scream. "Tyrion! Tyrion! No! Please no!" A small strawberry blonde ran into the pit screaming at the top of her lungs at the dead wolf in the pit. She threw herself to the ground, into the wet mud and cradled her mate's body in her hands, letting out a sad howl. I almost felt bad for her, but all that empathy evaporated when I saw Aria's eyes.

She looked... lost, confused and overwhelmed and I truly could not blame her. Imagine after all these years, learning what you always believed was a lie, her father might even be alive but now she would never know. She did not deserve this, it was just always something wasn't it?

"Talia," came Aria voice. Soft, pleading, desperate. "If it wasn't uncle then who? Who killed my father?"

Talia looked up at her, her lashes wet with tear and her gaze full of hate. "I guess you would never know will you?"

Before Aria could say another word, Absalom was already in the pit along with some other wolves.

"Stand down, Thorfinn!" One alpha commanded, the use of Aria's surname representing the severity of the situation.

Aria growled as Absalom stood between her and Talia.

"Alpha Thorfinn!" Malik boomed behind me and a shiver ran down my spine as I spun to look at him, shock coating my features.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Preventing another duel."

He replied in a mind link and I shook my head.

"She's only acting that way because everyone is in her face. Tell them to back off."

"I can't. She is in the wrong in this instance."

"Does that matter? It's Aria!"

His eyes meet mine.

"I don't care who she is. She is not allowed to hurt the she-wolf. It doesn't matter the circumstance."

He is right. He is the leader of course he has to do this but I do I feel so angry?

"Then my head should not be attached to my body anymore! I killed thousands if not hundreds of thousands, why do you still protect me?!"

Malik's jaw tightens.

"You know that is not the same thing." He says out.

I know, I do know. But it's Aria! I know how she must be feeling. I know how painful and angry she must be. She doesn't deserve to be ganged up on.

Thankfully, Absalom manages to get her to calm down as they cart the she-wolf away.

"Why can't anything just be fucking straightforward." I cursed. "I have to go to her."

"In a moment, let them have this moment. I believe he is the only one who can comfort her the way she truly needs to be comforted right now." Malik whispered as he wrapped his arms around me.

"I know you angry, and hurt on her behalf. But you cannot question me in situations like that." He says softly and I shove down the impulse to retort.

See? I'm learning.

"I am not going to apologize for fighting for the people I love." I say.

Sue me! I can shut my mouth.

"So if I did something very wrong, something abominable you would defend me?" He asks and I turn to him.

"I would let the world burn if you willed it." I say matter of factly. And his surprised look shoots hurts me. He straightens.
