Nightmare's Castle, Cross's POV
Wait, what?
It all happened so quickly, I highly doubt that any of us were able to keep a single sliver of the situation in our minds, except for Nightmare and Error, of course. They had VIP seats to witness the events first hand. Even from behind, me and my allies could sense the pure distress and shock that leaked from their beings.
However, I knew we felt all the same. We were all frozen. Like ice sculptures in the middle of December. It was like time suddenly stopped working, causing all life to become stuck in once place. None of us dared to move. Not a single twitch. Not even Killer moved, surprisingly. The bitch can barely be given a task without fucking it up either on purpose or out of spite- if the task given isn't as important as ones assigned by Nightmare himself. The castle knows how he can be.
"Well? What are you fools standing about for? Follow him!"
And then, we set off. The wild goose chase has begun, the fresh feeling of newborn adrenaline fueling me. It was just me and my team; running laps through the maze like hallways, rivaling even the most fastest track stars.
“Why does he even bother?”
Chara said. I rolled my eyelights at the sound of him. I've determined that trying to keep to myself and zone him out to the best of my abilities was the best idea- which, unsurprisingly, wasn't much, because the little brat decided to make his pitiful existence known once more.
“Hey! Are you listening to me?”
My sockets twitched in a mix of frustration and disturbance. Just the sound of his awful voice is enough to make powerful waves of bitterness surge throughout my whole skeletal being. "Shut the fuck up." I replied rather simply. Apparently, that comeback came out as too calm for his liking, causing him to suck his teeth like sweet candy. I huffed. Though surprisingly, he listened. He crossed his ghostly pale arms at his chest, rolling his eyes with an unnecessarily loud sigh. Ignoring the brat to my best capabilities, I roamed the dim, elegant castle halls with false confidence in my stride, the little bootleg Casper brat following suit- it's not like he had the option to wander off on his own, anyways.
The door, which felt like I spent multiple eras attempting to find, finally made itself visible to me. It's rather shiny, polished wood reflecting all of the light it could, mocking that of a stainless glass mirror. The door in particular was the entrance to Horror's bedroom. It was tucked in the dark back corner of the castle, thus making it a rather hard find. Gradually, I balled my fist and brought it up to the dark brown door.
Knock knock knock.
"Horror? Hey, buddy, are you in there?"
Silence.
I knocked once more, expecting an answer. Once again, I was met with nothing. Not even a grumble or a shuffle. Nothing. I growled in frustration, whacking my fist against the door to relieve said emotion. I must talk to him, and there's no better time to converse with him than now.

[The Doodlesphere]
~~~~~~~••••••••~~~~~~~"Hey! How about we calm down and settle for some lighthearted banter and conversation, hm?" Ink proposed. His voice squeaked, wavered, and cracked with each syllable spoken, his fear almost painfully obvious. However, you were not putting up with his shit. "Cut the bullshit, Ink. I don't have time for your 'let me try to change the subject' type shit because let me tell you one thing: it isn't gonna work, and that's for damn sure." You boomed. Ink retreated into the comfort of his silky brown scarf in surrender. "It works with Dream.." He murmured, fiddling with his tiny skeletal fingers. Sighing, you released your rough hold on the small skeleton, letting him drop to the floor.
"Is there something you don't want me to figure out?" You spoke up after a fairly long moment of unsettling silence. "Oh- no- [Y/N], if anything, you deserve to know about this-" His speech was cut short when your voice cut through his in outrage. "Then why aren't you telling me, Dang it? Why are you trying to pull some sneaky bullshoes thinking I would never catch on? Ink, I've only known you for what? A few hours, not even, and those few hours have been a funking pain in the gas!" You roared. You were beyond pissed. So beyond, in fact, that your head was too far in the steam chambers to realize the all new-and-improved band of three cliché skeletons staring straight at you with shock, some because of you, and some because of the absolute sailors mouth you've decided to weaponize against Ink. The poor, poor sharpie scented lad indeed.
"Oh! Heya guys! Didn't think you'd all be back this early! Hehe.." Ink said, his ever changing eyelights gazing completely past you. In fact, it seems as if he is looking directly behind you. Raising a brow, you followed his line of vision, your [E/C] eyes landing on another group of skeletons. All were dressed like they came out of some sort of cardboard cutout. You all just flat out stared at each other. That was until the little blue one decided to peirce through the silence.
"HUMAN [Y/N]?!"
Your ears rang, like someone just placed a wind chime on your eardrum and let it fly in the breeze. Grimacing softly, you tried to be as polite as possible. You didn't like their burning stares, so you've decided that trying to start some conversation would help everyone else up a little bit. "Erm- hey there-" those were the only few words you could gather before you were forced down into a tight hug. You felt like your eyes were just going to pop out of their sockets and dangle out of your skull, and you swore you felt a couple of joints pop, yet the hug was soothing in a way. Your arms slowly made their way around the tiny blue skeleton, looping around him as you returned his near fatal embrace. You felt his body convulse against you, and sudden wetness soaked through your shirt and onto your shoulder. The poor baby was crying..
Your hand traced soft circles on his back slowly, and your eyes closed even tighter.
"Sssh... It's alright."
You whispered. His sobs soon died down to low whimpers and hiccups. You released him, and gazed up at the other two. The one dressed in yellows, white, and a mix of soft cyan had golden tears pooling in the corners of his eye sockets. It kind of reminded you of lemonade. The absolute eyesore of a skeleton was just smiling wider. Lowering your gaze onto the gold skeleton again, you opened your arms wide.
He came running into your hold, the tears that were once held steadily dripping from his sockets. In response, you too became teary eyed, as you two sat there in each other's hold.
This felt right. It made your soul shine. You croaked out a sad laugh. And as you felt more arms around your body, you felt yourself smile
You felt... At home.
