The Next Day

Queen Mother visited the royal infirmary. As usual, Zhan was sleeping very uncomfortably beside Yibo. Zhan looks so pale. She knew Zhan had no time to rest. He spent all the night here, and in the morning he needs to attend morning court on behalf of Yibo. When Yibo was not there, the empress had the full authority to attend and manage the courts.

"Can you check on his pulse?" Queen Nora worriedly asked the imperial doctor for help, as she felt Zhan's health was not so good. The doctor checked his pulse immediately.

"Your highness, his internal energy was deteriorating. He transfer so much energy to the prince Yibo but he had no time to meditate and improve his spiritual growth. That's why his health is deteriorating. He really needs a good rest.

"Make a tonic to replenish his energy. Inform the royal kitchen to provide him a healthy diet. We don't want our empress to get sick." Queen Mother ordered. She wakes Zhan up.

"My child, look at you... Please think about your wellbeing. Take care of yourself. What am I going to do if you get sick too?" She uttered worriedly.

"It's alright, mother. I'm fine." Zhan gave his usual sunny smile. He didn't do it to fulfill an obligation. He really loves being with Yibo. The royal infirmary was filled with Yibo's pheromone, the strong scent of sandalwood, which made Zhan feel safe, comfortable, and satisfied. It's true he was feeling a bit tired and lost of energy but he didn't mind it. No one knew Zhan was secretly placing butterfly kisses on Yibo's handsome face while admiring his soon to be husband when there was no one in the infirmary. Zhan was totally addicted to Yibo's pheromones. But as Queen Mother was nagging him continuously, Zhan left the infirmary as Queen Mother had ordered while pouting like a child.

Queen mother sighed heavily after successfully coaxing Zhan to have a good rest. She then asked the imperial doctor to check on Yibo.

"Your highness, it seems like we will get a good news soon. Prince Yibo's health grew so fast. At this stage, he will wake up today or tomorrow."
Hearing the imperial doctor's note, Queen mother took a breath of relief.

"By any chance, did consort Lusi visit here?" She inqired from nurses.

"She visited once. The Empress was with our prince at that time. Seeing that she immediately left, even without going near him." One nurse replied to her.

"Yibo's beloved, huh? What a joke. Why is this boy so blind?" Mother Queen sighed in distress.

Yibo blinked, opening his eyes only to see his beloved looking at him, worry filling her eyes. Yibo caressed her face and gave her a faint smile.

"My love, don't say you suffer all these days without a rest because of me." Yibo mumbled in a deep voice. Lusi said nothing, instead, she smiled softly at him. Yibo immediately understood.

"Look at you. You look so pale. Why didn't you rest?" Yibo asked worriedly. It seems like his consort cried a lot, as her eyes were a bit swollen and her face was pale.

"How can I rest my prince, when you're like this? Please don't do something like this again. I was sick worried." A tear escaped from her eyes.

"I won't.. promise..." Yibo wiped her tears using his thumb.

"Wait! What happened to your face?" Yibo noticed that one of her cheeks was swollen, and he could see finger marks on her face. His brows twitched. It's so obvious that someone slapped her. Lusi immediately covered her face with her palm.
