Chapter 16

Yibo was in his chamber. Suddenly someone opened the door with a bang and entered his royal chamber. There's no need to look at who he was. The only daring creature who can enter his majesty's chamber without a notice is his only gege Haikuan.

Looking at the Yibo's outfit Kuan raised a brow.
"Oh are you going to sneak out of the palace again?"

"Why do I need to sneak out of the palace? I'm the king here. I don't need anyone's permission. I can do whatever I want." Yibo huffed.

"Okay I'm free now. Let me accompany you." Kuan exclaimed cheerfully. It's after so long, he is now accompanying his didi outside the palace. He is the only person who can understand his brother. Yibo is not really a fan of traveling in disguise. But after Zhan left him, he started to travel more in disguise. He won't accept it, but maybe in the corner of his heart there was a slight expectation that he could get a glimpse of Zhan.

"Whatever," Yibo grumbled.

"Are you had a nightmare again?" Kuan asked from the grumpy alpha who's face is solemn. Yibo doesn't usually show his emotions, but Kuan can understand him like a open book.

Kuan is Yibo's brother from another mother. He is Yibo's late father's consort's son. Yibo's mother and Kuan's mother were twin sisters. They were King Qiren's consorts. They got pregnant at the same time. So Kuan is a few minutes older than Yibo. But unfortunately Kuan's mom passed away after giving birth to Kuan. Yibo and Kuan always grew up together, practice together but Kuan's spiritual power was somewhat low and he needed more time to develop his golden core. As a result, he sought seclusion and mediation on a regular basis in order to better himself. Kuan and Yibo were known as the twin jade of Gusu as they were always together and shared a great relationship. However, Kuan was living apart from the palace, as it is customary for other princes to do in order to avoid posing a threat to the majesty. Yibo was totally upset the day Kuan left the palace. But after a few years, Kuan returned, improving his spiritual power, and became the commander of his army, promising Yibo to help him share the burden. So even though they live separately, they always meet each other almost every day at the palace.

Queen Nora didn't treat Kuan in a different way. She always treated him as her own son. But she was tough with Yibo from the beginning, as he was destined to be the Emperor. Kuan sometimes pities his didi when he sees how strict his mother is with him. But Kuan stayed with Yibo through thick and thin, comforting and encouraging his brother, taking care of him. Yibo is sometimes envious of his gege, seeing how carefree he is since he has only carried the burden of responsibilities as the crown prince since his childhood.

"Mn." Yibo sighed hard.

"It's okay let's enjoy today forgetting everything else. Today we're just two common folks. Two brothers enjoying their day." Kuan exactly knows how to lift Yibo's mood.

"Mn." Yibo answered and let his gege drag him out of the palace. But Kuan let a few of Yibo's guards follow them in the distance. Kuan doesn't want to risk Yibo's protection after all. They had a jar of the Emperor's smile and had lunch in a restaurant. They roamed around the market freely while Kuan tried every possible way to lighten Yibo's mood. Kuan knew Yibo was stressed from dealing with his duties as king and his personal life.

That's when Yibo felt a small tug from behind only to see the small version of him. Yibo was totally perplexed. He observed the little one from head to toe. He was amused by the way this child inherited everything from him, even though Zhan carried him for months. His hair, his brows, his eyes, his nose, everything means everything. A long tear escaped from his eyes which was not unnoticed by the little one. Yuan pouted when he saw the way this man was looking at him. It is weird. Was he crying?
