Chapter 15

"Mom, why are we in disguise?" Yuan asked in confusion, as this was his first time wearing different clothes than his royal robes. Both Zhan and Yuan were wearing normal clothes, but they still couldn't hide Zhan's beauty.

After everything is done, Zhan wore a mask in order to cover his face.

Yubin was behind them, guarding these two angels. Zhan had a hard time convincing his dad as he doesn't want any other bodyguards than Yubin as it will attract other people's attention to them. He was terrified when he saw more than ten guards lined up in front of them. With a lot of effort, Zhan convinced his dad, King Jiangmen, by promising him that he'll be careful and explaining that he can protect himself, so Yubin is more than enough for them. Furthermore, they will not only explore the area but will also engage in some undercover work secretly. King Jiangmen sighed hard in defeat and let Zhan do as he wished, as it was true they couldn't do the undercover work with so many bodyguards following them.

"Baby today we're going to sneak out of the palace and explore the area." Zhan smiled at his son whose face was beaming after hearing his statement.

"Really really? Wow I'm so excited." Yuan started to jump around.

"Yes. So be a good boy and listen to me, okay? You should never let go of my hand. Otherwise, you'll get lost in the crowded market." Zhan advised him, holding his little hand.

" Yes yes I won't" Little Yuan promised.

"Good boy." Zhan kissed his forehead, and they left the palace secretly, making sure no one's attention was on them. Yuan was looking around, amusingly bombarding Zhan with different questions. They were near a lake, and Yuan had a chance to see the process of a fisherman catching fish. They even rode a boat. Yuan happens to saw the process of making pottery. They explore the area freely. Zhan didn't forget to buy Yuan different things, various beautiful accessories, different kinds of sweets he had never had. Yuan was so happy to experience everything while having a great time with his mom.

After enjoying some time, they went to a certain restaurant as they were actually here to an undercover work. They ordered their lunch, and Zhan gave Yuan a chance to taste some new dishes. Zhan and Yubin slowly sipped the Emperor's smile waiting for their target to show himself. They had a clue that their target would show off in this restaurant. After a while, the target showed himself and talked with another folk. They observed their surroundings before exchanging something and parting in different ways.

"Go follow him. I'll follow the other one. Let's meet at the market in 30 minutes." Zhan advised.

"No I can't. Your highness, I can't leave you and our little prince. I promised your father to protect you two at any cost."

"Yubin you certainly know that I can protect myself and Yuan. Please don't lose this chance. Now go." Without waiting for a response from Yubin, he immediately followed the certain person taking his son with him. Yubin sighed in defeat before following the other one.

Zhan saw that person talk with another merchant in the market, hand him something, and disappear from there.

"Bingo!" Zhan mumbled, smirking. He  saw the person he followed mixed in with the crowded market. Zhan didn't follow him any further as he found what he want. Zhan was still holding onto Yuan's hand. Yuan, being a good boy, didn't even ask any questions and followed his mom. Zhan went to that merchant. He was selling vegetables and herbs. Zhan pretended to choose the vegetables. From outside, no one can suspect anything. Zhan kept choosing some vegetables along with the herbs. Yuan pouted when Zhan let go of his hand and started to pick up some ginseng and lotus roots from there.

His mother was the one who told him not to let go of his hand. But now he is the one who did so. With a visible pout Yuan gripped Zhan's robe and held it until Zhan was done.

The merchant didn't suspect him as Yuan was with him. He thought Zhan as an another ordinary mom who just came shopping with his child. Even wearing a mask is a common fashion with Omegas. So nothing was suspicious.

"The ginseng was really fresh. It will be difficult to find ginseng in this market as this is not the ginseng season. I'll give it to you for a lower price."

Zhan was talking with the merchant while trying to bargain. That's when Yuan saw something familiar, which really confused him. A cute frown appeared on his face. He let go of Zhan's robe and started to follow that man, forgetting what his mother had advised him. Yuan reached a man who was facing him from the back. Tilting his head curiously, he grabbed the man's robe to get his attention.

The man looked at him, after feeling a small tug in his robe. "Oh kid, are you lost?" He was going to ask more, but seeing the child's face, he went paralyzed. At the same time, the little boy's pheromones settled in his senses, making his paternal instincts kicked in. Unconsciously, he crouched down to his level, only to see a miniature version of himself. Even his usual frown was visible in little boy's face. The boy's sweet pheromone reached his nostrils, a mixture of his expelled empress's and his own. He gulped, tears threatening to fall, when the realization hits him so hard.

That's his child! His own child for the god's sake!
