The 5 months time

2045 p.m.

Eunjoo was minding her own business while Beomgyu had his eyes closed next to her. She made him get his blanket for them to lay down for a while, arguing about whose socks were cuter.

Beomgyu's black socks or her hedgehog's printed socks with a hole at the sole.

Just now Eunjoo didn't accept the critique Beomgyu gave her for abusing the socks.

" Let's buy new clothes. " Eunjoo jolted up. " It has been a long time since I bought new clothes. "

It was like a night of fantasy. Eunjoo and her charming friend went on the road again to the city, eyes sparkling with the flashing lights of the life of Seoul. Hundreds of famous faces appeared on the big screen, smiling and modelling for products.

Seoul's alive.

While they both were walking side by side, only then Eunjoo realised that she had been wearing the exact same bomber jacket as Beomgyu. The only difference was the colour.

" Dude I just realised we've got the same jacket. " She laughed, covering her mouth. " What the hell. "

" We're twins... " Beomgyu squinted his eyes at her. " I don't know to be happy or- "

" Fuck off. "

She stormed off with a little smile, leaving Beomgyu behind.

" Yah! I was just kidding! " Beomgyu chuckled. " Joo, wait up! "

Beomgyu never thought that clothes shopping could be alright. Perhaps it was because he knew he would die in the next few hours, so even the most mundane thing he decided to do would be meaningful. Guess life was a little fun, just when it suited the time.

" Gyu, I think this would look great on you. "

His face turned displeased, shaking his head in disagreement.

" I don't think tight short pants would look good on me, Eunjoo. "

" Heh, don't all men look hot in these pants? " Eunjoo pouted. " Guess you're not then. "

" That's so offensive. I hate you. "

She giggled and walked through the men's clothing section and gasped, pulling out another basic t-shirt with The Peanuts cartoon characters printed on the chest side.

" I don't know if this makes sense but I think Peanuts characters suit you very much. " She handed him the shirt. " Buy it. I'll pay. "

" You do? "

Eunjoo nodded enthusiastically, " You both look so soft and silly. a cute kind of silly. Makes me wanna squish you. "

They looked at each other, awkwardness eating the whole space.

Eunjoo felt her cheeks heat up and she hid them under her jacket, prying her eyes to look at the ceilings.

" I'll look for some jeans. " She grinned. " See you! "

Beomgyu's smile couldn't leave his face. Everything, everything that she does touches his heart. The way she talks, how she tried to tiptoed to talk slowly to him just sort of tingling.

Eunjoo however was panicking inside. Once Beomgyu was out of her sight she let out a huge breath she was holding. Her heart hammered that she actually placed both her hands on her chest, afraid other people would listen.

Her fingers then touched the fabric of the jeans and combed through to find her fit. Eunjoo had always liked jeans. Back when she lived with her grandmother, jeans were the ones she found hard to buy.

Grandmother had a broken washing machine and she wouldn't have much time to do her own laundry, so that old woman would do that for her.

She didn't want that.

Eunjoo finally picked one. Another one and another one from the shelves and exited the aisle.

Seeing people walking around the store made her nervous. She wondered if this was what it felt like to know you fated your own death. Nervous, relieved, scared, shallow. They attacked all at once.

God, this wouldn't be considered squandering right? She didn't have anyone else to think of any more, right?

Not even the cat she had raised for years.

Across the room, she spotted Beomgyu, actually trying on some hats while looking in the mirror.

Her shoulders dropped when she saw how thoughtfully Beomgyu chose the hats. The Peanut t-shirt was hanging on his arms. He looked so small. Why would God place him in such a place?

She didn't want him to die. He didn't deserve to die. She thought she should help him to bring that thought away.

Was she able to?

Of course, she was. She needed to.

Eunjoo went to the right side of the store, mindlessly grabbed two long dresses with her and picked up a handbag then made her way to Beomgyu. She wiped away the unwanted tears before calling his name.

" Yah, Beomgyu! "

He turned and gave her the widest smile he had ever gave.

God, she felt guilty to let him go through this.

" Joo, look at these cool shades! Let's buy them! " He excitedly wore it for her. " I don't mind twinning with you. "

" You've got a taste, Eunjoo. " He gestured to the dress. " It's beautiful to wear to the beach! Oh, with this hat! "

Eunjoo could see the difference between him and her now.

She's doing this to make herself feel better before she dies while Beomgyu,

He still thought of the future. The upcoming time.

She must help him.

Beomgyu deserved to live.
