A week had gone by since the concert. Paige had been working crazy hours at work, which kept her distracted from thinking too much about Wyatt. They still were messaging each other, but they hadn't video called since that first time. Paige still got butterflies every time she thought of them talking to each other on the phone. She couldn't believe that it had been real.
Wyatt had also been busy, he told Paige that he was working on some project in Colorado, which was making him stay longer. Paige obviously was excited about the fact that he was still in her beautiful state. She only wished she could see him in person again.
The week had gone by fast due to her work schedule. Then after work, she spent her early evenings at the dance studio getting ready for her next season. She had dance team tryouts for UNC in two weeks that she was preparing for. She knew she would make the team, but her dream was to make the Varsity team not JV.
Work today though was very busy, as soon as she started her shift, her manager told her that it was going to be a busy day, that Target was doing some special contest. Paige didn't think too much of it, and just got to work.
Her manager had been right though, it was exceptionally busier than normal. It could also have been the back-to-school sales that had started that week.
Around half-way through her shift, Madeline showed up at the store. She looked and looked for Paige in the clothing sections and finally found her cleaning out the dressing rooms. She looked extremely frantic and ecstatic.
"Mads, what are you doing here? Are you okay? You look a little...", Paige was cut off by her best friend.
"He's here".
"Who's here Madeline?", Paige questioned not having the faintest idea who she was talking about.
"Wyatt Mason, duh, who else", Madeline stated.
Paige's heart leaped. She was so confused, and Madeline saw it on her face. Why would he be here of all places? Well, he could be there because of...Paige wouldn't let herself finish that thought.
"I'm surprised you don't know, as you do work here...", Madeline went one.
Before Paige could even question, her best friend continued.
"He's throwing some contest for Target employees and shoppers. The contest started this morning and is ending in thirty minutes. I'm really shocked no one told you. But anyway, Wyatt Mason is here, to meet that contest winner, and whoever wins gets to do a photoshoot with him".
Paige was shocked. Her words had left her body. She was more surprised that no one had informed her of this contest. Yes, maybe because it was specifically for the front-end team, but secretly she was disappointed that he hadn't mentioned anything to her.
"Well, I'm glad I told you now, and it's a good thing that I entered your name in the contest, but I for sure thought you would have entered yourself, especially since you've been messaging the guy".
That was a hard conversation to bring up. Paige had wanted to call her best friend as soon as she had finished talking to Wyatt the day after the concert, but she didn't want to hurt her best friend.
Madeline had shown up at her house, again bringing up the pictured of his Instagram, when Paige finally blurted it out. Of course, Madeline was excited for her, she was a great best friend, but she could tell Madeline was a little bummed it hadn't been her.
"Come on, they'll be picking the winner anytime now", Madeline exclaimed, pulling Paige by her hand towards the front of the store.
Paige was about to exclaim that she was working when an announcement was made over the intercom for all employees and shoppers to make their way to the front of the store.
