"Hush now, we don't want to wake the others." The voice came from the small owl in the den, staring right at her! Sliverstar was still in awe. "Don't worry, I'm a clan owl. Daughter of Silva, friend of Ravenshade—you wouldn't know her."

"Wh-who-who—" the leader stammered.

"That's the sound an owl makes!" The stranger chuckled to herself. "Mind my manners. My name's Alyssa, and I'm here to deliver a message from The Place of Cold Waters."

Sliverstone had finally recovered and was eying the owl curiously. "You know The Place of Cold Waters?"

Alyssa bounced a 'yes' due to her disability to nod her head. "Honeywing told me everything."

The leader was shocked. Surely this owl hadn't spoken to the clan's greatest legend. She was tempted to ask a hundred questions about her idol, but the bird had a message from her ancestors, maybe even Honeywing herself, and it was no time for curiosity. "What do they want to tell me?"

"BrambleClan used to be quite large, a new yet successful clan," Alyssa started. "It was not until the rebellion did things start to fall apart. You were born a very special cat, Sliverstar. You must travel to the rebellion, FireClan, and fix the peace between the clans." It was as if her ancestors spoke through her. Such confidence couldn't have come from such a small frail bird.

"I must travel to FireClan?" Sliverstone assured.

Alyssa bounced. "Correct. There, you will meet your father, but you must first face a great enemy." Sliverstar's heart swelled at the mention of the father she had never known.

"My father.... He's still...?"

"Yes, he's still alive."

"Then do you know about my... my... sister?" The leader fought back tears, thinking of her lost family.

Alyssa saw the grief in the leader's eyes. "Your sister has your mother now," she reassured. "She's no longer alone, and she's watching over you, proud of the cat you've become."

Sliverstone sighed. It was her duty now to travel to the forbidden FireClan and finally meet her father. But who's going to escort me? Who'd believe I've a message from a bird? Then she remembered the one cat that would follow her to the ends of the woods if only a mouse had told her.

"Are you sure you don't want me to go with you?" Breezesong asked.

Sliverstar nodded. "If The Place of Cold Waters wanted you to help, they'd have told you. I must face this alone."

Breezesong gazed uneasy at the eerie FireClan territory. "Alright..."

Sliverstar smiled at her best friend. "I'll be okay, Breezesong. I have our ancestors on my side."

The cream she-cat lunged forward and placed her head on her friend's shoulder. "Good luck, Sliverstar."

"See you soon." The leader licked the tip of her friend's ear then began her walk straight into the heart of FireClan. Breezesong watched her disappear into the distance, pride and fear filling her heart. Then something else twinged in her belly. The warrior decided to ignore it, but she would later have to let herself accept her biggest secret.
