CHAPTER THREE: pack mentality

ALEXANDER MCCALL WAS WIDE AWAKE, DESPITE IT BEING THE FOURTH-SOON TO BE FIFTH-DAY WITHOUT SLEEP. But, the words of Derek Hale have been playing over and over in his head, worried for his younger brother.

"I can't stop him from playing, but you can. And, trust me-you want to."

It hadn't only been because that had been the first 'conversation' he had with Derek since the day of the Hale House fire. Alec had understood that it was going to be difficult to adjust to the-for lack of better words-new life style. But he still didn't think that could change his little brother into a monster that rips bodied into two parts. Or more.

And he couldn't believe that Derek would go that either, especially to his own sister.

Alec flipped onto his side, staring at his wall. We are in trouble. Especially if his feeling for Derek return.

Alec nervously waited outside of Derek's house. Scott had told him about his dream, unable to go anything. So, the older brother simply told the younger one that it was just a dream.

"Alec," Derek's voice suddenly sounded.

"Shit!" Alec yelled, whipping around as he immediately had his gun in his hand.

Derek had only moved back to avoid getting hit with the gun.

"Shit Derek! What the hell?" Alec gasped.

"What are you doing here?" Derek asked.

"I'm sorry," Alec blurred out. "About Laura."

Derek's eyes drifted off of Alec. "You need to leave. It's not safe here."

"Der, I wanted to apologize-" Alec let's the old nickname slip accidentally.

"You need to leave, Alec," Derek demanded.

Alexander had wanted to return to the Hale residence, but Scott had insisted that he was needed at the school, where they would be finding out who was the Alpha.
