"Are you going to explain everything now?" Donna asked. They were sitting together by the lake again. They had just gotten there and so far Ferneus hadn't said anything.
Donna had made sure to get up extra early, she wanted to know everything. She didn't even put in the effort of finding good clothes, she just threw on something and left. She didn't think Ferneus had anything left to hide after they conquered their fears, but it turned out he was full of surprises, and secrets.
"Yes I suppose so," He sighed, regretting that he let her know. "Where would you like me to start?"
"From the beginning," She replied excited, "I want to know everything." He sighed deeply, closing his eyes.
"It's going to be a very long story Donna."
"I don't mind," She said, scooting in close to him. She put her head on his shoulder and put an arm around him, "I want to hear it." He smiled faintly.
"Alright, from the beginning." He said.
"As you know already I was originally an
angel created by God, but not just a basic angel no, I was something called a Throne."
"Question." Donna interrupted. Ferneus looked over at her.
"Is this going to be a common occurrence?" He asked.
"Probably." She replied, he sighed again.
"Yes what is it?"
"What's a Throne? I thought there was only one type of Angel?" She asked, Ferneus put a hand to his face irritated. He waited a while before answering, telling himself she didn't know anything. He took a deep breath in and said,
"The Thrones are only one of nine types of angels. There are three hierarchies in Heaven, the highest, the middle, and the lowest. The first type in the lowest class are the basic angels. They work with people and guide them while also protecting them. The second are the Archangels. They re-alight people's faith in God and reveal the will of Him. Thirdly is the Principalities, and the last of the lowest hierarchy. They instruct lower angels in the Divine Commands, protect lands, and teach people about honour as well as other things."
"Wow- you weren't kidding when you said it was going to be long." Donna remarked.
"Would you like me to stop?" Ferneus asked, his words sharp.
"No, no, no! It's interesting! Please keep going!" Donna pleaded. He smirked and continued on.
"The first in the middle hierarchy is the Authorities. They help people resist the temptations of evil and sin and protect them from said evil. The second is the Powers. They fulfil the will of God and create miracles. They also help people with patience in hard times. Lastly is the Dominions. They are the ones who mainly do all the other two jobs but better, and make sure the other two are succeeding in them."
"And finally," He declared, "Is the last hierarchy, the highest one. First is the Thrones, which is what I was all those years ago. Our job was to make God's will come to fruition, and to instruct the lower class angels how to make his plans come alive. We strove to be as merciful as possible, balancing fairness and mercy just like God. We tried to be just like Him when faced with a choice. We channeled positive energy and made sure that justice and balance were upheld."
"Was it hard to do all that?" Donna asked again, Ferneus thought for a moment.
"No, I don't think it was that hard. Though now that I think about it we were just a bunch of copycats. I'm surprised we were ranked third highest..."
