Visenya chose to dine privately with her mother that night. She felt for her mother, as a young woman she was made to marry a man more than twice her age, made to have his children, and watch her former best friend flaunt the rules and do whatever she wanted without repercussions. Even as queen, she couldn't speak her mind without fearing it would be seen as treason.

"Tell me what happened in the dragon pit today, Visenya," Her mother asked as the servants cleared away their plates and left the pair in silence. They had moved to sit by the fire and finish off the pitcher of wine.

"Rhaenyra's offspring and Aegon thought it funny to tell Aemond they found him a dragon," Visenya recalled bitterly, sipping her wine, "Luke came out with a pig that they had decorated with wings, The Pink Dread they called it, they all laughed at him, so, naturally, we fed the pig to Aegarax."

"Whose idea was it?"

"If anyone asks me it was Jace and Luke, but truthfully it was probably Aegon."

Alicent sighed, sipping her wine before concluding, "and that is why you fought with Jacaerys today in the training yard." She knew how protective Visenya was over her siblings.

"He humiliated Aemond, I humiliated him, and his father in the process." She smirked as she recalled Ser Harwin jumping to his sons' defence, all but confirming everyone's suspicions. She knew she could speak freely in her mothers company, there were no servants around and it was Ser Criston, still covered in cuts and bruises, guarding the door.

"Lord Lyonel has sent Ser Harwin back to Harrenhal to try and stop the rumours, they left after talking with you father."

The princess let out a laugh, "maybe Rhaenyra will have a son that resembles Ser Leonor after all."

"Visenya, you must never speak like this outside of this room and not to anyone but me, you father sees it as treason," Alicent stressed.

Visenya knew how much her mother worried. The queen hated Rhaenyra's disregard for the rules and her position as a princess and heir, and she secretly loved the rumours circulating the court around her children's parentage. Alicent done everything that was ever asked of her without complaint, and her four children were the only good thing that she got from it.
Honour and sacrifice got people nowhere in life, Visenya knew as much, and she would sacrifice nothing for no one.

"I was speaking to the ladies during our morning sewing circle and Lady Alys's father is thinking of a match for her, I thought that perhaps it would be wise to seek a match between the West and the North," Visenya suggested, putting her earlier plan into motion, "there has never been a solid alliance between the West and the North, their relationship civil at best. Lord Creggan Stark is already betrothed, but Lord Karstark's son is around the same age and I thought that it might be wise to make a match between the two as a way of slightly mending their relationship."

"That is a very good idea, sweetling, the Karstark's are one of House Starks most loyal bannermen, I'll suggest it to your father and Lord Lyonel when he returns," her mother smiled, "What of Lady Alerie? I have heard the rumours about her in court."

"Lady Alerie has been sneaking around with the Tarly boy, her fathers guard, Lord Tyrells choices are limited. I was thinking that perhaps Lord Greyjoys son, the Iron-Born are less worried about those types of indiscretions than other houses. They have also been raiding the West again, so it may be wise to propose a match and hopefully mend the relationship between the Iron Islands and the mainland."

"Very wise, Visenya," her mother smiled softly, taking Visenya's hand into her own,"if only your father saw sense, you would make an excellent queen.

"One day, mother." Visenya smiled, knowing she would be queen one way or another.
