"Hello, Angel. My name is Charles. Welcome to my school for gifted youngsters."
His ... team, I guess, starts to relax around him. Clearly, they don't think I'm a threat. Good. Better not show anything until I figure out who they are.
"We are the X-men, a group of heroes, just like your Avengers. You have nothing to fear. Come in, we don't want to catch a cold, do we?" Charles said, as if he were answering my thoughts. Who was this guy? Where was I? What did he mean with gifted youngsters? Was he really answering my thoughts? He turned around in his wheelchair and looked at me.
"I indeed am. Come inside, and I'll answer your questions. Like I said, we don't want to catch a cold, do we?"
I got my car keys out of the contact and mumbled:
"I don't get colds. I am basically made out of fire."
The guy with the cigar chuckled, and I decided I liked him. I had to talk to him later. For now, I needed to know how I got here. I followed Charles over the grass to the huge mansion. The doors opened and I was led to some sort of meeting room. Everyone sat down, and so did I, if not a bit awkwardly. I looked around and studied everyone's face. I thought about my team.
"Why don't you tell us who you are? My name is Ororo, but you can call me Storm. I have the ability,a s you can probably guess, to control thunder and storms and such." I smiled.
"My name's Angel Storm. I have a friend who can control thunder too. His name is Thor. Anyway, I can create force fields, I can manipulate the gravity, I can move things around with my mind, I can fly and I can control fire. I am the newest member of a team named 'The Avengers' and we protect the Earth."
The cigar man chuckled again.
"That's quite a list, kiddo. My name's Logan. Welcome to the X-mansion."
I nodded at him, and we continued the round. Which was quite short, since only the boy was left.
"Hi. I'm Bobby, also known as iceman. Nice to meet you."
With that, he got up and held out his hand. I put my hand forward, planning on shaking his, but as soon as my hand touched his, my hand caught fire. His hand was covered with ice in less than a second, to protect his hand. We both pulled away as quick as we could. I shook my hand and the fire went out.
"Well that wasn't weird at all..." I said. Bobby laughed and his ice disappeared. I didn't see any burn marks or red skin, so he wasn't hurt. Before the conversation got any weirder, Charles told Logan to guide me to my room.
"I have my own room? Don't be silly! A pillow and blanket would have been enough!" I screamed, maybe a bit to loud. A few kids in the hallway looked at me. Charles smiled.
"You will have to teach in return. But I know you won't mind. These kids are absolutely wonderful. We only have to find you a subject... Ah! I know! Mythology! You have two days to prepare. Bobby will bring you the schedule later today. Now, Logan, escort ms. Storm to her room, please." With that, he turned away in his wheelchair. Logan brought me to my room, which turned out to be right next to his.
"I ... I have nightmares. I sleep as far away from the others as possible, so I won't wake them. Just a heads up."
"So you're a screamer, then? I have them too, but I'm the kind who mumbles and yells once or twice and then wakes up covered in cold sweat and not being able to sleep for the rest of the night. Ok, change of subject, what is your 'power'? I saw you with these knives." Logan chuckled. He put his fist in between our faces, and the 'knives' came out very slowly. I realized they were some sort of claws. They were covered with metal, and they looked razor sharp. I picked up a leaf from a nearby plant, and dropped it just above Logan's claws. They cut the leaf in half.
"Cool..." I mumbled. Logan retreated his claws.
"They're claws. I've had them since I remember. My whole skeleton is covered with adamantium, the metal you just saw. I also heal fast, which makes me immortal." I thought about it for a second. You would outlive all of your friends and family...
"Less cool, I guess... I mean, the healing is pretty cool and it could come in pretty handy in battle, but the not dying part sucks. Well, I don't know of course, but it seems all horrible. Not that you are horrible, but ... I dug myself in, didn't I?"
I sighed. I did that a lot lately. I talk a lot, maybe too much. Apperently Logan thought so too, 'cause he chuckled.
"Pretty much. Anyway, Bobby's here. He's eavesdropping around the corner. Not really polite, boy." I frowned. How did he know that? I didn't hear a thing. But, he was right. Bobby walked around the corner, his head red like my hair. My hair used to be a dark brown, but since Hydra 'experimented' on me it turned to a ginger red.
"Hello? You weren't listening, were you? Anyway, I had to ask if you wanted to help Logan during the advanced PE."
"Advanced PE? What is that? Like, really difficult PE? I mean. sure, of course I'll help!" Bobby and Logan laughed and briefly explained to me what it was. Basically, parkour and free running and material arts. 100% my thing. Bobby handed me the schedule, and it turned out I had two classes everyday.
"Isn't that a bit much? I don't think kids are really interested in mythology. I'll only be a pain in the ass with my stories." I said. Bobby chuckled. He said:
"Don't worry, the students in your classes volunteered. You'll be teaching me too."
"With no specific purpose, I assume?" Logan asked. Bobby shook his head hastily, but I could see he was blushing. I patted him on his shoulder.
"Don't get your hopes up, boy. I'm from a different universe, remember? I have to be, since none of you have heard of the Avengers or Tony Stark or Captain America and such. And I'm at least two years older."
"Boy?" Bobby asked, sounding extremely offended. "I'm not a ... Wait a second, Avengers? Like, the comic books? With Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow?"
I frowned. Comic books? What the hell?
"Yes? I mean, yes, that's my team. Do people make comic books about us? Wait, you didn't mention me. I'm not in the Avengers?" I asked Bobby. It's always me. Bobby shook his head. I sighed. Suddenly, Bobby's head shot up, and his eyes twinkled with excitement.
"Did they teach you stuff? Can you show me?"
I chuckled, and grinned evilly.
"Are you in for a fight?"
