I stare at the weird assembly of people. They stare back, dumbfounded. After a minute or so, the Steve look-alike opens his mouth.
"Are you an angel? 'Cause you sure look like one."
Despite the situation, I chuckle.
"Was that a pick-up line?"
He blushes and shakes his head. I laugh a bit harder and say:
"Close. My name is Angel, but I'm as human as you. Certain people just added... stuff."
I stressed the last part, making clear that I didn't want to talk about it. The pick-up line guy puts out his hand for me to shake it.
"Hi, my name is Johnny. Johnny Storm. The blonde girl is my sister, Sue, the grandpa she's married to is Reed, and the big guy is called Ben." He said, pointing at them. I waved.
"Nice to meet you! Ok, just a question, it may sound weird, but have you heard of the Avengers?" They all shook their head and I briefly explained what had happened in the past few hours. Because I hadn't been gone from 'home' for longer them 8 hours maximum. They said they understood and that they were going to help me get back home. I thanked them and Johnny showed me my room. He got in with me and sat down on the bed. He patted the space next to him.
"Come here." He said. "What powers do you have? Because you said that certain people added stuff, so I was wondering... what."
I looked at my feet, wondering whether I should tell him or not. Then I noticed he was wearing a suit, similar to mine. Only his looked more like a wetsuit. I pointed at it, with my eyebrows raised.
"What are you wearing?"
He looked down, as if he just realized what he was wearing.
"Uhm... It's a fireproof suit."
I realized that meant he had the some power as me, but I decided to play dumb.
"What would you need a fireproof suit for?"
He smiles.
"This. Flame on!" His whole body catches fire. Ok, I must admit, that is cool. I never thought about doing that. He heats up his body even more, and now he's flying. Suddenly, I get a brilliant idea to scare the crap out of him. I walk up to him and put out my hand.
"Is this real? Can I touch it?" Before he can answer I put my hand I the fire. I scream as my sleeve catches fire. But what Johnny doesn't know is that it is my own fire. I let it spread and now flames are dancing in my hair. Johnny panics and starts to fan me with a book. I drop to the ground and roll until the flames are out. I pat out the last one and smile happily at Johnny. He stares at me, his jaw on the floor.
"You ... have fire." I nod. I decide to show off with a little trick I have practiced on. I pretend to blow him a kiss, but I breathe fire instead. It hits him right in the face. He coughs and I wink at him. The next second, the wall collapses. A man with a metal mask comes through. He shoots an electric current at Johnny, sending him into the back wall.
"Ah, I see you brought a little girlfriend. How nice of you. Now I can take a hostage." He walks up to me and puts his arm around me. His grip tightens, but he's it holding me in a headlock or anything. So either he hasn't got experience, or he's not expecting me to fight back. Or both. I elbow him in the face, grab his arm, turn around and kick him in the chest. I hear a sickening 'plop', probably meaning that his shoulder has been dislocated. He screams in agony, confirming my theory. I smirk at him and push him back through the hole he made. But before he falls down, he grabs my leg and pulls me with him. Just before I'm in free fall, I'm able to grab a loose cable coming out of the wall. Due to the sudden shock and the weight of the man on my leg, my shoulder dislocates as well. I grunt and let go of the cable. The man screams and flaps with his arms, desperately trying to find something to break his fall. I fold out my wings and fly back up to an astonished Johnny. He looks at my shoulder and pulls a face.
"Are you okay? Your shoulder seems ... painful." I nod and grab my upper arm.
"Dislocated. I have to put it back." I groan. With that, I pull. I suppress a scream. Natasha would be proud.Tony's P.O.V.
I'm playing guitar hero with Rhodey when J.A.R.V.I.S. interrupts us.
"Sir, I might have found something on the location of Angel."
"About time." I say. "She has a tracker. What took you so long? Did she remove ..."
"She drove through a wormhole, sir." J.A.R.V.I.S. interrupted. I dropped my guitar.
"She what?" I felt the blood leave my face. "Give me footage. Now."
The TV screen flickered and now showed security footage from a nearby building. I saw Angel's car, it blurred, and suddenly it was gone. A sudden wave of nausea hit me.
"Call in the Avengers." Not too long after, everyone came running to the room. I showed them the footage. Steve was the most upset.
"Shit!" He yelled. He kicked the wall, leaving a dent. He must be really upset. Usually he could control himself perfectly.
"Steve, calm down." He turned to look at me.
"I can't! Biological or not, she's my daughter! And now she's gone!"
I put my hand on his shoulders,p but he shook it off.
"It's not your fault, Steve." I said, trying to comfort him.
He stared at me, his usually bright eyes were dark, like the joy had left them. They were dead eyes.
"No it isn't. It's yours." He said. He walked away. And you know what the worst part is? He was right.
