[ Y/n ]

I came out of the office with my phone in hand. That Simon guy was a total catch... I should've asked what he does for work.

I bet he's a firefighter.

"Y/n."

I turned to the gruff voice. Simon was standing with a dog by his side. I walked over, crouching down to pet the dog. "So cute! What's it's name?"

"His name is Gordo."

I stood back up and looked at him. He's in sweatpants and a hoodie. "What're you doing here?" Please say something romantic...

"We were going for a run. I thought by now you'd already be home." He mumbled. I couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah well, we have to work late."

Thunder tumbled overhead. We both looked up at the dark sky. Large clouds were packed closely together.

"How far are you from home?" I asked.

"Couple miles."

Well... I can't let him and the poor baby go home in the rain. I don't know him though and he's huge. If he wanted to do something bad...

I can't think like that.

"Why don't you come over for dinner." I offered.

He stared at me with a shocked expression before nodding. "To thank you for the other day."

Simon looked down at the brown and white dog. It looked up happily at him. "Alright, come on. I live close."

.  .  .

I texted Ella about my situation just in case. If I called her for her to just rush over here and call the cops.

You can't ever be too careful.

"I have a big dog..." I warned before opening my door. "That's alright." He doesn't really smile. He keeps that same dead expression on.

I unlocked my door and opened it up for him. Kong started barking, standing on the couch. "Kong, hush." He stopped barking and jumped off the couch to come sniff the visitors.

While they met, I quickly went to close my bedroom door. We're not that close yet. I turned back to them. Kong is happily playing with Gordo.

"Do you want something to eat?" I offered. Simon slipped off his shoes, nodding. "Yeah if it's not too much to ask." I shook my head at him.

"No, I have some leftovers if that's alright." I pulled out the pasta I'd made last night. He stood awkwardly by the door while Gordo and Kong played by the couch.

"You can sit if you'd like." I held a hand out to the table.

Simon slowly walked over and sat down. "Simon, I don't think I ever asked what you do for work."

He tapped his finger on the table softly. "I used to be in the military." He sighed. "Ooh, what branch?" I placed a plate in the microwave for him.
