[This is a royal AU]

A gloomy ambience, dared perturbed by none.

In that ever-expanding mansion-- or perhaps, palace-- laid a glamorous foundation for an otherwise dull and empty interior.

The imperial royal family of Estoria, a glorious empire which had just won the war, was the Shinonome family.

Having just won that impactful war across the continent, the empire was brimming with liveliness and celebration. With the return of the 'war hero'-- the crown prince, the emperor sought to reward him with whatever he requested. I, the largely admired fiancé of his, was caught up in all the rumors which aimlessly floated around every conversation in higher society.

'He', was the crown prince of the empire-- son of the emperor and next-in-line to the throne. That of which made me the 'crown princess'. During his two year long lead in the war, I sent him letters. They were decorated with affection-- all of which I had my handmaiden do, of course. There was no way I was going to send a letter filled with heartfelt lovey dovey messages to a ruthless and uncaring person like him. But of course, he replied not once.

On the day I heard of his return, I anxiously walked towards the throne room. By the emperor's order, my fiancé was to be granted a wish of any kind by the emperor himself. To be completely honest, I knew word for word what he was going to wish for. I had low expectations.

I stepped into the throne room. The place was decorated with gold and shimmering lights. Its magnificence was not to be described, as words could never fully capture it. Putting my admiration aside, I bowed, holding the hems of my dress up with both hands. "Crown princess (Y/N) greets your majesty, the emperor." I smiled modestly and announced my presence to the other nobles who had arrived beforehand.

Directly in front of me was a man in knight armor and orange hair. His armor was sullied with soot and blood. He was on one knee, facing the emperor. At the mention of my name, he turned around. Seeing as they seemed to be in the middle of something, I cautiously followed up with, "Please do continue with what you were doing before."

Hearing my words and likely understanding my intention, my fiancé turned back to the emperor and said something in a low voice. Perhaps he meant to whisper, but almost everyone could hear him clearly in that deafeningly silent room.

My heart skipped a beat. For some reason, I had an ominous feeling in my chest. Even so, I kept my seemingly graceful composure.

"For my request, I'd like you to revoke my title of crown prince, and strip me of nobility." he said.

Multiple audible gasps resounded the room. Immediately, the room filled with chatter and whispering. Above all, the nobles in the room stared at me.

Why, anyone could connect the dots. As the to-be crown princess, my status was entirely reliant on the crown prince. If the crown prince was no longer 'the crown prince', then I would be just another noble daughter. And god knows how hard I worked to escape that power-hungry father of mine. Furthermore, the throne would be left with no heir and quite the dim future. The imperial family would be in disarray, and the older aristocrats may attempt to pull a political coup. Of course, there was still the princess, second-in-line to the throne and sister of the crown prince, but she was never considered an heir.

"Akito Shinonome! Do you even understand the weight of the words you just spoke?!" the emperor yelled in panic.

Calming myself down, I continued watching the situation unfold.

"Yes, father. I'd like to pursue my dreams as a commoner." he stated nonchalantly, as if it was something so small you would laugh at it for being brought up in a ballroom. After a very erratic and enraged chide, the emperor finally passed down his decision. "...Alright. I shall grant the crown prince's request." he said.
