Jonathan grinned as he watched the baby rabbit hopping around his lawn, is that was the easter bunny looked like? Easter was coming up in a couple of days and he was getting excited, he wondered what his 'brother' by the same name would be doing for easter. Would father stay with him or the other Jonathan? Ever since Mother had left Father had never been quite the same, he grew angry fast and was becoming very violent. He was never told exactly why his Mother abandoned him and his Father, although sometimes he thought he heard Father muttering about it to himself while he was in the study. Did his Mother love him? Unanswered question burned in his mind as he took out a sketchbook hidden under his bed so Father couldn't find it and started sketching his Mother, he couldn't remember what she looked like so he always made it up giving her a kind smile and bright eyes. Last year his Father had forgotten Christmas, he had woken up on his fourth Christmas morning and realised there was no tree or presents or even Father, then he remembered that Father loved his brother more and started sobbing in his tiny grey room. When his Father had returned he gave Jonathan three whippings on his arm as a punishment for crying, now he no longer believed in Santa. He was holding onto the hope of the Easter bunny and prayed it wouldn't let him down. Jonathan hid many things under his bed, all the things he didn't want his father to destroy, his sketchbook, photos and his plush toy bird which he slept with every night, it was precious to him the only thing he had left of his mother besides a few pencils and his sketchbook. Sometimes he asked his Father if he could meet his younger brother but the answer was always no. One day he knew he would get to meet him perhaps they might even become best friends. Jonathan knew there was something wrong with him, sometimes when he looked in the mirror he thought he saw something, and he had nightmares about it. He wasn't a mutant freak was he? He changed into his dull grey pyjamas which matched the colour of his bedroom walls, curtains and his carpet. He lay in his bed staring at the ceiling for what felt like years until sleep took him.
