"uh, hey y/n?" tartaglia called out to his significant other.
"shh!" they whispered quietly. "do you not know a bookstore is supposed to be quiet? pipe it down, tart cake."

"are we gonna be here any longer? you know i get bored." childe asked while y/n was browsing through the manga section of the bookstore. he had his legs crossed on a chair and was playing with a yo-yo he had found in the children's section.

"stop being impatient, i'm just trying to find a certain book." they huffed, tracing their hand across the books to find a book.

"ah, here it is." y/n picked up the second copy of book on the shelf (to get the best quality).
komi can't communicate had been one of their favorite manga series at the moment.

"i found the book, turtle. let's check out." y/n called over to childe.
he stood up and loomed over their shoulder. "just one book?"
"uh, yeah. i'm not rich, rich like you, mr. moneybags." they rolled their eyes and started walking to the nearly empty check-out line.

"here, let me treat you." childe obliged. "what about two books, love?"
y/n looked at him, puzzled. "why? one book is just fine, and i'm not going broke anytime soon. i can pay, tortilla."

"those nicknames..." childe mumbled.
"what about some bookmarks?" he said, grabbing some magnetic bookmarks from a stand. i use them while i'm reading, and these have pretty phases of the moon on it!"

"you don't read. i'm surprised you can at this point."
childe scoffed while placing the package of bookmarks in y/n's hands. "i insist."

"do you really need that yo-yo?" y/n asked.
"yes, its pretty awesome, don't you think?" childe remarked, throwing it once more.

"next please!" the cashier called.
y/n and childe waltzed to her while y/n started to place her items on the counter.
"how are you today, cutie?" the cashier asked, gazing at childe for a second.
"i'm good, thanks." he said, uncomfortably.

"here," y/n said, reaching into their wallet.
"oh, that won't be necessary, sweetheart." the cashier winked at them while scanning and bagging her book and bookmarks.

"it's alright," childe slid his credit card on the counter. "i can handle it."
the cashier blinked. "alright sir. that will be $23.76."
"thank you." he huffed, annoyed.

"no problem, lovelies. have a nice day!"
the two walked away from the counter in utter confusion.

"which one of us what she flirting with?" y/n giggled.
"i'm not sure, but if i had the chance it would be you~" childe teased, putting his hand on their chin.

y/n's face turned bright red. "stupid tortellini!" they yelped, turning away.
