—-Francis POV—-

We arrive at the local fair. I begin walking around with Enid as Wednesday talks to a boy. He looks interested in her, is that her crush? Hell, i'm already jealous.

"Look at these cute bears!" Enid squeals. "I need to win one!"

I help her aim and cheer her on until a voice interrupts me.

"Francis," a calm voice says. "Come with me."

"I'll be right back, Enid," I say. She's too focused on the bright red BB-Gun in her hands to listen.

Wednesday grabs my arm to pull me, but her head suddenly snaps back with wide eyes. She stops moving and just stands there.

"Wednesday?" I ask, becoming frantic. "Hey Wednesday what's going on?" I ask, grabbing her shoulder with one hand and placing my hand on hers that's clenched onto my arm. What the hell is happening.

Her head snaps back at me, wide eyes staring into mine. "Are you okay?" I frantically ask.

"I'm fine," she says, turning her focus on leaving again. "Let's go." What in the absolute fuck just happened?

"Hey!" I exclaim, "Where are we even going?"

"I had a vision before. That Rowan was in danger. The fireworks are about to start, we must go."

"Wait is that what you had when you touched me?" I furrow my brows a bit. "What did you see?"

"We will talk about this later," she snickers, continuously dragging me. "There he is."

We start running faster after the shadowed figure running into the woods. But once we hit a certain point, she stops me. "You wait here, If I scream, that just means I'm having fun."

So I obey. I sit beside a tree and wait for her return. The trees sway in the slight wind and leaves trickle from the branches. The fireworks look beautiful from here. I wish she was sitting here beside me to see this.

A loud thump nearby catches my attention. It's been long enough, I need to see what's happening. I get up and cautiously walk over to the cause of the thump.

"I'm not the one in danger, you are," Rowan mutters. I couldn't hear his speech about a book before I tackle him. Wings sprout from my back, 3 on each side with too much adrenaline to feel the pain. I knock him to the ground and stand above him, arms reaching up as I gather all of the fallen sticks around us into the air.

"Francis," Wednesday mutters. But right before I can send the sharp edged sticks into him, a loud roar startles me. A huge beast comes from the darkness of the woods and attacks the guy, blood splatting all over me. I'm drenched in a man's blood.

"Francis, let's go!" Wednesday yells to me. I once again obey and run with her.

—-Wednesday POV—-

After explaining what happened to Principal Weems, we are sent back to clean up.

"I can't believe she doesn't believe us," Francis whines.

"We will show her," I reply, opening the door for us. She sits down on the floor beside my bed and holds herself in pain.

"Can you do me a favor?" She asks. I turn to her, tears filling her eyes as she groans. "In that crate are bandages and medical equipment. Could you grab that?"

I turn the crate and grab the box inside with a red cross. I then sit on the bed beside her as she opens the box. She struggles, so i grab it from her and sit it beside me. "Sit up here."

She slowly sits up on the bed, handing me the scissors from the box. "Could you cut the back of my shirt off? Please try not to touch the wings." I do as she asks, running the scissors along the uniform jacket and the white shirt underneath. "And the bra. I'll keep covered though."

I look at her face, red with embarrassment and pain and do as she says. I cut it off as she holds it to her chest. I look at her back, a tattoo in white placed strategically where the wings weren't sprouted. She then stuffs the shirts into her mouth as the feathers start to grow back in and some fall out. She continues trying not to scream in pain as they sink back into her back. Tears stream her face as she tries not to let me see.

They're finally all gone, and she drops the shirts in her mouth and just holds up the bra. I can't help but feel slightly bad for her, she's not used to that pain. But otherwise, the blood on her chest and dripping down her back make my head run with thoughts. Thoughts that i've never had before that i can't help make me feel a way.

"I'm sorry about this," She whines. "I don't know where Enid is to help me like usual, I just couldn't deal with the pain of them out any more."

"Your apology isn't needed, i'll help you with whatever you need." I don't feel like it's a requirement like most people, but I for some reason want to help her.

"Could you put the ointment on the wounds and bandage them?"

"Sure," I reply. I begin running my fingers along the edge of the wounds and dabbing the blood up with a small towel i found inside of the first aid box. She flinches a bit at the pain, making a subtle noise from her throat as i do so. It made me continue feeling that sort of way. I like this feeling. She shakes as I continue spreading the ointment onto the wounds, more noises coming louder and more frequent. A part of me is sad when I finish the last wound, but she seems relieved as she takes deep breaths.

"Francis!" Enid yelps as she sees her upon entering the room. "I'm so sorry i didn't know or else i would have been here to help you!" she sits at her knees.

"It's okay, Enid. Wednesday helped me this time," Francis chuckles before flinching in pain of the movement.

"i'm gonna go get a towel and some meds and we are gonna get you to the showers to get all the blood off, alright?" She asks, running out the door before she gets an answer. Silence falls over us for a minute as she leans forward onto her knees.

"Thank you, Wednesday. I wish it didn't hurt this bad, then I wouldn't have to have help every time they go away."

"You're welcome," I say. "I'll help bandage you when you're back from the showers. Say, are you going to be able to get on top bunk with that?"

"I usually sleep with Enid when this happens, but her beds completely covered in stuffed animals so I doubt I could sleep with her. I'll just make a bed on the floor and sleep there for the night."

I think about what I'm going to say, before clearing my throat of the nervousness and look at her in her eyes. "You can sleep with me," I mutter. My face has definitely run red, but i've learned to like the feeling of my blood rushing.

She looks up at me from her knees, her arm covering her lower face just so I can see her eyes. "Wednesdays going soft on me, huh?" She says with a sweet tone.

"I will never grow soft. The number one on my bucket list will forever be to see a witch's sacrifice. I'm just... finding my heart I guess." I say, moving my eyes to my own knees, which are under my hands with my legs are to the side of me.

"Well I like this heart of yours. But I thought you were cool before too. Even when I lashed out on you guys a week ago. I couldn't help but feel embarrassed."

"I understand your reaction, my speech was irrational. I won't make such a joke again," I mutter, messing with my hands.

"It's alright. I'm sorry too. I was having a rough day already and I took it out on you," she says with a slight whine in her voice.

"And you didn't hear it from me, but I thought you were quite interesting when I first met you, too," I reply. I feel my face getting slightly hot as she laughs.

"I'm back!" Enid interrupts. "I brought a robe for you to cover up with while we get there, okay?"
