"Yo, Chilly! You ready to go?" The sound of my keys rattled in my hand causing everyone to look my way and I gave them a tight smile. I had to pick Ben up from training today because he was getting his car fixed and didn't have any other way home.
"Uhh, yeah... do you mind staying here for an hour or two? We're being held back because the boss wants to talk to us individually.." My lips drew to a thin line as I tried to hide my annoyance.
I didn't want to be here any longer than I had to be because of the potential risk of seeing Mason again. After the entire day of hanging out together, none of us made the effort to contact each other again which resulted in this entire situation to become super awkward. The lack of communication almost made me regret that night.. Like— what if he was just using me for sex.. But then again I know he's not that kind of person... But maybe it was different for me?
I sighed, frustrated by the amount of time I'd given myself to overthink these situations. I mean usually, I have a one night stand, leave and get on with my day, but I actually had or still have feelings for this guy and hanging out with him afterwards didn't help with my overthinking...
I nodded at Ben, not looking to start anything and looked around for a nice corner to hide in. But unfortunately, while I was looking at every corner, my eyes landed on the entrance where the rest of the team came in from, and among those teammates was Mason Mount.
Panic instantly rose from my chest as a million thoughts raced through my mind. I wasn't sure what to expect. Was he going to say Hi to me? Is he going to ignore me? Is he going to ignore everything that had happened? I didn't know where we were at the moment and I was afraid to find out.
His presence made me stuck in place, unable to remove my gaze from him. I watched him as he greeted his teammates, including Ben with a bright smile but when his eyes moved over to me, my stomach twisted and I feel a stinging current run through me at the eye contact. His lips quirked further at the deer-in-headlights expression that was likely residing on my face and I could feel my cheeks tint a shade of pink.
He gave a final take on me before looking away, biting his lip to hide the coy smile rising from his lips and I couldn't help but go beet red. I knew that smile from anywhere.. he was thinking about that night again. And I couldn't blame him either. That night has been on repeat in my mind ever since it happened. The way we would just click and had a casual conversation without any bit of awkwardness, how he would easily rile me up and turn me on, the euphoric tingling sensation every time he would touch me, the taste of his lips— That whole day was indescribable.
I found myself closing my eyes, begging for my body to feel such a sensation again..
But if I really thought about it, wouldn't he have come up to say hi to me if he wanted something more? If that day meant anything to him?
I paused. Wait... Do I want something more? My eyebrows furrowed and my thoughts began to spiral. Relationships never intrigued me, I always found them stupid and had no purpose, they would only end in a few months so what's the point? So why then hell am I suddenly imagining how we would look together? Why am I wondering what it would be like to wake up next to him every morning and go on little dates? Am I seriously considering a relationship with someone, let alone Mason Mount...
