Kota's POV
"Uh, dad?" I murmured. "What is the writing on your eyes..?"
"Oh my god, are you dumb?" Akaza yells, making me jump. "Are you seriously that clueless?"
"Akaza... it does seem like... that this girl... has a brain capacity... of a 5 year old..." Kokushibo adds, sitting upright.
Okay, I do feel dumb now. Akaza is uppermoon three. Kokushibo is uppermoon one. That means, "DAD, YOU'RE A DEMON?"
Akaza claps slowly. "Great job, smartypants."
"Hahaha! Surprise?" Dad smiles, opening his arms.
"Yasu!! Wahhhhh!" I cry, crawling over to her. Right now in this very situation, she's the only person I can trust. And the only actual person there is.
"There there," she pats me on the back, adjusting her katana.
"Yasu... I have a question... for you.." Kokushibo speaks slowly, fixing his gaze on Yasu.
She crosses her arms. "And why would I answer you?"
Wow, she's so inspiring. I wonder how she can be so calm in a room filled with the strongest demons. Is she really fearless or does she not realize we can die any second?
Kokushibo ignores her comment, and asks his question. "What type... of breathing style... do you use?"
Okay, now I'm lost.
Yasu seems offended. "Uh- did you not hear what I said? Why would I answer a demon like you?"
Kokushibo just stares at her, blinking his six eyes. It sends chills down my back. Yasu shivers too.
"F-fine! I'll answer." She grumbles, scratching the floor. "I actually couldn't master any breathing techniques..."
Kokushibo's eyes slightly widen. "Then how... did you pass.. the final selection..?"
Yasu looks back at him with a quizzed expression. "How do you know so much about demon slayers?"
He stays silent for a little while. "You... didn't answer... my question.."
Yasu groans, and sighs. "When the final selection started, I literally ran through the forest and reached the wisteria trees before day one. I stayed there for remaining 6 days."
"Isn't that kind of cheating?" Akaza asks. He's interested in the story.
"They never said you couldn't do that." Yasu answers, grinning.
Work smarter, not harder, they say.
Yasu glances back at Kokushibo. "Now answer my question!"
Kokushibo gets up. "Let's go find... you guys a room.. to share..."
Yasu stares at him with her mouth open. "Wow. I wish I could behead you right now."
I get up and follow Kokushibo. Yasu groans behind me, but follows. Kokushibo slides one door open, and spots someone else there.
"Kokushibo?" Some random guy says. I screech. Another demon!
"Sorry... Gyutaro." Kokushibo apologizes. The demon named Gyutaro glances over Kokushibo's shoulders and spots me.
"What's a human doing here? Can I eat her?" He asks, which makes me cling onto Kokushibo.
"Kokushibo! Don't make me a meal! Please!" I cry, clinging onto his haori.
"Maybe I will..." He whispers, closing his eyes.
"Hahaha! Kokushibo-dono is just joking, dear! No need to worry! I'm here!" Dad says with his usual smile on his face. Okay, even if he's a demon I'm glad he has my back.
