Chapter One:The banging on the door reverberated off the walls of the empty abandoned warehouse. How did I always manage to get myself in this shit again?
"Open the door, we know you're in there!" The dumb-ass growled. "Really, how cliché of you to say?" I laughed at him. How stupid are they? They want me to open the door and actually expect me to? They must seriously think I'm stupid.
"Open the goddamn door, you insolent child!" He roared again. "Seriously out of everything to say. You watch way too many TV shows." I loved to tease them. It made it so much more fun when I kicked their asses. "When I get my hands on you!" I literally laughed out loud to this one. "Dude where are you getting your lines from?" The hinges of the door flew off. Well... Someone's angry.
All three men poured into the room I was currently in, all scowling. The leader stood in the middle. "Sabrina, Jill, Kelly, glad you could make it," I said with one leg over the other on the desk whilst sitting in the swivel chair.
"What the fuck are you talking about?!" The biggest dumb-ass said. "Charlie's angels. Duh." I pointed out sarcastically.
"I mean that's who you guys were trying to be, right?" The douche on the left growled. "Think I touched a nerve... whoops!" I smirked at the douche causing him to shift into its true form.
Shadow Shifters.
Ruthless killers. Werewolves who chose the dark path. Merciless murderers. Pathetic if you ask me. They couldn't cope in the real world, so switched off their humanity. Where's the fight? The courage? The willpower?
Shadow Shifters were normal werewolves, in the beginning, a lot of them have been through some stuff, like losing their mate, or drugs, or just fell off the wagon. But the thing that pissed me off, was the lack of willpower. If that was me, if I lost my mate, or some stuff like that happened to me, I would've fought. I never would have let the darkness consume me.
My mom told me tales, she told me that the darkness starts to consume you before you become a shadow shifter, it's like the darkness knows you are close to falling. And the darkness was ready to consume you. It's just a case of how much you are able to fight. So in my opinion, Shadow Shifters were weak. The only bad thing was, once you turned, the only thing that could change you back is death.
The growling of the shifters bought me back to my situation at hand. How did I get here you ask? Well...
*Flashback*
I had just finished packing the boxes in the living room, my body was stiff from being inactive all this time. "Dad!" I called, I know what I needed. "Yes, Kat." He replied, walking out from the kitchen with a towel on his shoulder. "I'm gonna go out for a bit, stretch my legs, let my wolf out. I'll be back a bit late." Dad just chuckled to himself, he knows me too well.
"Just be safe, and for god sake, do not cause any trouble!" He called out at me as I was already heading out the door.
I laughed to myself, walking out, the familiar roads sticking to my memory. I started off in a light sprint before I got to the forest. I removed my clothes packing them in my backpack and shifted into my wolf. I grabbed the backpack in my mouth and took off.
Night runs call me. There's something about the moon shining, and the wind through my fur I can't get enough of. Dad says I shift more than most wolves my age, but I just couldn't help it. For me exercise was always a way of destressing myself. That and I am antisocial and just reserved. I preferred my own company and silence. I never did get on well with others anyway, especially girls my age.
