Gianna's POV
I walk off the plane and to the baggage claim that my luggage is going to be coming from. I'm one of the only people coming off the flight, surprisingly, so spotting my bags is not hard. As soon as I gather my bags, I turn around to see the "one and only" Ryan McDonagh.
I try to waddle to my brother but in the process I drop one of my bags. I go to reach for it but another hand comes into my view. As both hands grab the handle of the bag, our hands graze each other.
I look up to see that it was one of Ryan's teammates, Derick Brassard if my memory serves me correctly. I feel horrible for not remembering if this was him or not but the last time I saw anyone from the team was long ago. Probably around 2 or 3 years ago.
"Hey lil Gi!" Ryan says, running over to me. I put down my bags and run over to him. Meeting him in the middle, I jump into his open arms, that seemed to be waiting for me.
"Hey Ry, I missed you so much," I say, being spun around by my older brother. "I've missed you too, Gi. I'm sorry I couldn't be at your graduation in person. I had a game but I remember that we skyped you during the intemissions and-" I rudely cut him off by grabbing his face and "mushing" it around.
"I'm guessing that you already met Brassy, am I right?" my brother asks, grabbing the heavier of my three bags. I nod as I go to grab the other two, quickly cut off by Derick grabbing the heavier of the remaining two bags.
"Nope, you just got off a flight. I'm not letting you carry this heavy bag," Derick says, laughing slightly. God, I don't think I ever realized how adorable he was.
I roll my eyes playfully as we follow my brother into the parking lot. "Is it hot out or is it just me?" I say, half-joking, half-seriously.
"Little bit of both, Gianna," Ry yells back at us from his few strides ahead. I, then, realize that I'm wearing a hoodie in New York's hot and humid 83degrees.
I pull over to take off the hoodie but I then realize that I am only wearing a tight, revealing tank top underneath so I quickly decide against taking off the hoodie, instead rolling up my sleeves.
As soon as we get to the car, Ry and Brass put my luggage in the trunk as I run ahead and grab shotgun. I never realized how luxurious his car is until now. But it does not seem familiar from last time I stayed here.
I hear someone get into the driver's side. I whip my head up, expecting to see Ryan but instead I see Derick. "Nice car, Brass," I tell him quite nonchalantly.
"Thank you, Gianna," he says, smiling. God, his smile can bring world peace.
We leave the airport and drive for what seems like 25 minutes but from what the time actually says, we drove for almost an hour. I don't understand how long that took as we had not encountered any traffic.
We then arrive in the "city that never sleeps." I look around, mesmerized at how big everything is compared to back home. Speaking of home, as soon as we get to Ryan's, I need to call my mother.
We soon pull into the parking lot of what I can only assume to be Ryan's and/or Derick's apartment complex. "Which bag has some clothes in it?" Ry asks, opening the trunk. I grab my carry-on bag which has two outfits, a small makeup bag and a few toiletries in it. "Why are we leaving the rest of it in the car?" I ask my brother, confused. "I only stay here on game days or right after road trips that I'm too lazy or tired to drive back from," Ryan says, "We are gonna go back to my regular house tomorrow, after the game."
We walk into the building and step into the elevator. Ry presses the button for the 14th floor. We get up there with no interruptions. We walk to his part-time apartment and drop our stuff here.
I check the time, it's 4:30pm. I excuse myself to call my mother.
After the call, which was more painless than I thought it would be, I walk back into the kitchen to see two boxes sitting on the counter. And the two boys sitting on the chairs at the counter.
"What are these for?" I ask the two, confused (yet again).
"Think of it as a 'Welcome to New York' gift," Derick says, pushing the box that is in front of him toward me. I look over at Ryan, who nods. I open the box to see a New York Rangers hockey hoodie and t-shirt. I take those two things out of the box to see a Rangers 2nd home jersey from years ago (the one with the Statue of Liberty on it), flipping it over, I see that it is a signed Avery jersey, my favorite goon ever. "Derick, thank you," I say, walking around the counter to hug him. He hugs back. Mental note: Derick Brassard gives amazing hugs.
Ryan pushes his box toward me and I accept it with a smile. I open it to see a Rangers warmup shirt, the "Barkin', Change the Ending" one, along with a McDonagh alternate jersey and a new phone case. I flip the case over to see that it was a Rangers case, signed by the whole team.
I walk around the table to hug my brother, who meets me halfway. I thank him and he hugs me tighter.
"Alrighty, so we kinda have to get to the Garden soon, before I'm late and yelled at," Ry says. I grab the "Change the Ending" shirt and the McDonagh jersey and walk around the corner, out of sight. I slip off my hoodie and the tank top and pull on the shirt then the jersey. I did all of this unseen by either of the boys. Ryan is standing by the door with Derick as I change my phone case very quickly.
We retrace our steps from just half an hour prior to get to MSG.
Well, here goes nothing.
A/N Hey guys! This was kinda a long one which I wrote during the intermissions of Game 7 of the Rangers-Capitals series. I wrote that last word just as Derek Stepan scored the series ending goal. I can't be more proud to be a Rangers fan right now. But feel free to leave feedback and vote, comment and all that and I'll see you next time. I am not going to be updating "They Can't Tell Us Anything" tonight because I am thoroughly exhausted after that game and I have tests tomorrow that I still haven't studied for. Good night guys!
