The Devil would be an understatement metaphor for Carla's nickname. Evan couldn't comprehend how a girl's friendship he knows has always been toxic, such as this, turning around to bully her previous best friend.

Low life.

To distract Eve's mind, Evan decided to pour questions on her, "Figures. So, how did you get out of it? And where did those thugs come from? Have you already bought the dress for Ed's birthday? Is that why those thugs chased you? Because you owe them?" Overwhelmed by Evan's question, Eve closed his mouth before he continued to add more questions.

"Oh my. One question at a time." Eve sighed, "Thankfully, I remember every question you have for me. I didn't owe them. Truthfully, I haven't bought a dress yet." Eve went silent briefly before remembering something odd about the thugs, "Also, weirdly enough, they knew my school nickname. Although I am unsure, I guess this is Carla's work. Despite being poor, I'm pretty sure my family has no outstanding debt. Earlier today, Carla tried to bully me physically. However, Diane and Vince intercepted, and I was saved." Eve was proud to be able to remember all the questions Evan gave her.

"Ah, two of Ed's group of friends?" Eve nodded excitedly, "Did you know that Diane was friendly to the point she  suggested an outrageous idea." Evan changed his seat next to Eve's. Unconsciously, Evan's lips curved upwards. It is the first time she is childishly happy to talk about her friend.

"What idea?"

"To be in a fake relationship with Vince!" Eve laughed it off while Evan's gaze fixed on Eve's. Contrary to Eve's happiness, Evan stares at her with a dark look as he tries to show how he hates Diane's idea. Yet, he remained silent, "Really?" As Eve opened her mouth, suddenly, they heard a knock.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Come in," When the door opened, the maid brought them some refreshments and the ice that Eve wished he had brought earlier.

"Thank you." Before the maid went out, she didn't forget to close the door.

"Tonight? Where should I sleep?" Casually, Evan answered her almost automatically, "Like the usual, Next to me." Evan and Eve usually sleep together at the hotel. However, it was weird as they didn't do anything beyond kissing. Even sometimes, Evan wonders how he can get a hold of his desire and not go through with sleeping with Eve, while Eve sometimes wonders if her charm isn't strong enough for him to sleep with her. Perhaps he was afraid of commitment, and unfortunately for her, that was precisely Evan's problem.

"Where are my stuff?" Evan checked his phone to answer Eve's question. You are not answering the question. Instead, he commented, "By the way, on our way, when you call your Mother on our way, she seemed very fond of you having a sleepover here. I wonder if your Father is the same."

"Yeah, my Dad would probably do the same... He never was home anyway. Now, my life is a mess like this. These few days had been a rollercoaster for me. I haven't exactly expressed my emotion freely." Evan put his right hand on Eve's cheek, cherishing her, "How so? Haven't you been ignorant these few days? I mean, you were too focused on catching Ed."

Evan's horrid statement formed Eve's first tear before dropping one of them: "I did. To run away from the real problem." Truly frightening what she is doing. Entirely out of the norm to the point, she questioned her future.

Will she be truly happy?

Sighed heavily, Eve continued as her empty eyes directed to nowhere, "I thought being beautiful would help me forever. Having a good life, a good friend, and a good husband."

"Eve, It doesn't work that way. It does help, but it's not entirely helpful." Eve buried her face in her knees and screamed, "I know!" Behind her crafty acts toward Edmund, in her heart, she is just a naive child.
