Man it feels good to be home. I unlocked my door and placed my duffle bag in the foyer before taking my shoes off. One thing Gloria don't play about is shoes on her floor.
"Mom, I'm home!" I yelled throughout the house before walking into the living room.
"Shawn!" My mom excitedly yelled before rushing over to me.
I felt like a little kid as my mom pulled me into a hug. The warmth from her hugs is the best thing ever, this woman is literally my whole heart. Well her and another special someone.
"Oh look at you, so handsome." She said while gripping my cheeks.
"Ma c'mon with the cheeks." I laughed while moving her hands.
"I'm sorry." She laughed. "I just missed you."
"I missed you too. You know I can't go to long without seeing my favorite lady." I said.
"Mhmm, you sure that fast tail girl you dealing with not keeping your attention." My mom said while turning to walk to the kitchen.
I followed her to see she had the table set with all of my favorite foods. I smiled knowing how much she spoils me.
"C'mon ma, you know you the only one who got my heart." I said.
"And it better stay that way. Go wash your hands so we can eat." She threatened.
I went into the hall bathroom to wash up before heading to the dining room. I filled my plate up with literally everything my mom made. I have been eating nothing but that nasty ass cafe food for the past few months. The food is only good on Chicken Wednesday & Fish Friday.
"So how have your classes been going?" My mom asked once we both had made our plates and sat down.
"Classes are going good. I have an A in all of them except for my English class. It's a B, but I'm pretty sure I can get it up by the final."
"That's good baby. You know I say it all the time but I'm so proud of you!" My mom cheesed.
""Thanks ma, you know that's my number one goal in life. Oh and I brought all the game tickets you asked for."
"Thanks, I know I usually make it to all your games but my work schedule is so hectic due to the shortage of nurses." She explained.
My mom has been a Registered Nurse since I was 8. She was previously in school but had to drop out once she became pregnant with me. After my dad left she decided to enroll back into school and earned her associate's degree before enrolling in an ABSN program. I had so much respect for her still going to complete school after my father left her.
During her time in school, I spent a lot of time at Bey's house with her parents watching me. We lived about ten minutes from each other, so it was the easiest thing to do.
