"Beyoncé it's 12 o'clock you need to get your butt up!" My mom scolded.
I groaned before pulling the covers over my head trying to ignore her. I felt the cover pulled off of me and tried to hurry and cover myself, seeing as how I'm sleeping naked.
"Girl you ain't got nothing I haven't wiped." My mom said. I just glared at her. "Now fix your face and get up. I need you to go to the store for me."
"Mommy" I whined.
"Aht! I don't want to hear it. You know it's Christmas Eve and the stores close early."
"Ughhhh." I groaned grabbing my robe and putting it on. "What stores you need me to go to?" I asked.
"Just Sprouts, Walmart, and Target. It's a couple of gifts me and your father forgot to get your sister."
"Yes ma'am." I mumbled before heading to the bathroom.
I turned the shower on and let the water warm up. While waiting on that I connected my phone to my JBL Bluetooth speaker before playing my favorite Christmas song. Hearing 'Let It Snow by Boyz II Men & Brian McKnight' play through my bathroom put an immediate smile on my face. I just love Christmas!
After my shower I got dressed in some black leggings, an oversized sweatshirt I stole from Jay, and my UGG's. It was kind of chilly in Houston today. I grabbed my purse and headed downstairs.
"BB" Rian yelled once seeing me walk in the kitchen.
"Hi my precious baby." I exclaimed while grabbing her. I playfully kissed all over her face while she giggled. I placed her back in her high chair.
"Here is a list of all the things I need and the keys to my car." I eagerly reached for the keys before my mom drew them back. "Beyoncé if you as so much get a scratch on my car, that is your ass!" She said.
I playfully rolled my eyes. "Yes momma, I already know. Where is daddy?" I questioned.
"Him and your uncle went somewhere this morning, he should be back in a little while." I nodded my head. "Oh and be back by 4. Gloria and Shawn are coming over."
"Jay is back?" I nervously questioned.
"Yeah he got in early this morning, I'm surprised you didn't know. Or are y'all still not talking for whatever reason." She responded.
"Yeah we just keep missing each others calls" I lied.
My mom put down the sweet potatoe she was peeling. "Mhmm. Whenever your ready to stop lying and tell me what really happened, I'm here."
I nodded my head before heading outside to the car. I connected my phone to Apple CarPlay before pulling off.
As I drove I couldn't help but think about Jay. Tonight will be my first time seeing and talking to him since the kiss. I never did respond to that text he sent me the other week.
I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous as fuck. The conversation we have tonight, no matter what the outcome, will change our friendship. But I hope it doesn't change too much.
I pull into a parking spot at Sprouts before heading in the store. While shopping I get a Group FaceTime call from the girls. I insert my AirPod before answering.
"Merry Christmas Eve bitches." Nicki yelled.
I just laughed at her always being on ten.
"Onika, don't associate the Lord's holiday with your foul language!" Michelle said.
"Oop. My bad Jesus." We all laughed. "What y'all doing?"
