𝐈. character notes

hello hello hello, if you've read my books before, you know the drill- here are the character profiles that i wrote for each person before starting the book. they basically have the character's backstories and stuff and it works like a prologue.

ˑ༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ dream

dream is heavily dyslexic and has overlays etc. to help him with his reading, but he is with george and sapnap all the time and they do a lot of the reading for him.

dream's dad left when he was born, so it's just him and his mom, holly, in the house.

the family struggle with money, despite dream's mom working two paid jobs, but they receive an abundance of support from george and sapnap's families - the three households are incredibly close.

dream's mom owns a store, bartends, and volunteers at a food bank.

dream's mother's relationship with sapnap's mother is ambiguous, and neither of the two boys have ever seemed to notice. take that however you want.

dream doesn't want a boyfriend, neither does he understand the thrill around christmas. (grinch)

ˑ༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹sapnap

sapnap's mom is lola. she and his father got a divorce when he was four or five.

he was always incredibly verbally and emotionally abusive and would manipulate his wife constantly. george and dream's mum tried for years to get her out of the relationship to no avail.

they finally broke up after an occasion where lola caught him hitting sapnap.

the divorce was a long process, which drained everyone in the family and definitely affected their relationships for a while, but dream's mom helped lola through it every step of the way (since she had experience with losing the partner to your children) and the pair have been impossibly closer ever since.

sapnap has an older sister, cara, who he calls puffy because she has a nut allergy and her face puffs up when she gets a reaction. he is the only one who uses this nickname.

sapnap is narcoleptic and he suffers from regular microsleeps- sometimes happening a few times a day. he feels drowsy most of the time, and has a lot of difficulty concentrating and staying awake.

sapnap's narcolepsy also means he has regular headaches/migraines, and he occasionally suffers from sleep paralysis- which used to terrify him, but isn't as bad now that george sleeps at his house almost every night.

he also suffers from cataplexy, meaning he will sometimes suddenly lose muscular control for short periods of time. the attacks are normally triggered by strong emotions like excitement, laughter, anger or surprise.

whilst sapnap had been through a lot, he is still a very positive person, though sometimes his condition gets to him, and he has short periods of time where he's emotionally withdrawn.
