Everyone was in the squad, the director gave directions about our day. This year for Outreach day we were going to participate in the inauguration of a memorial status in the town square. I saw Enid bouncing around in the distance, which put a smile on my face."I hope we'll be together, I can't go another day without you" Bianca smiled at me. I pretended to smile back at her but my gaze shifted to the tall blond man a little further away, who was already looking at me.
The fencing teacher handed out the envelopes that contained the places where we were to volunteer for the day. I took one in his hand and opened it.
"What did you get?" my best friend approached me.
"Pilgrim world. You?" I gasped.
She put her arm around my neck, "Same". I was glad to have my friend back, but the smile on my face disappeared when I met Xavier's eyes again. I could always feel his gaze on me no matter where I went.
Later that morning we took the bus to the city center. We all headed to the bleachers in the town square to hear the opening speech of the day.
The sun on my face warmed me up, it felt good to get out of school. I'm looking forward to the day I leave school and live away from my family. As much as I love them I need to start my life and this time, alone. I don't know what I'm going to do after school, maybe study science or maybe psychology. I must admit that I admired Dr. Kinbott very much and I wanted to help others like she helped me.
The speech of the mayor and Weems was short "blah blah welcome blah blah we are so happy to have you all here" what a hypocrite. We all split up, each one went to his task, we were supposed to meet back here at one o'clock.
I followed Enid, "What do you have?" I asked, trying to catch up with her.
"You first" she said excitedly.
I rolled my eyes, "Pilgrim World-"
"Enid" we both turned around "Switch volunteer assigment" the black haired girl said.
"What? No. Uriah's Heap is definitely not my bag" my sister scrunched her nose at the thought of working in that old store.
"It' an emergency, I need to check out Pilgrim World." the girl in front looked serious "And I'm going to need you" she looked at me.
"Why would I agree to spend the entire day at some dumpy emporium of crapola" she asked looking at me as if I could help her. I didn't know what to say, I just stood there silently waiting for a choice to be made.
"Because Ajax is volunteering there," Wednesday added. Enid rolled her eyes and took the envelope from her friend's hand and huffed.
She headed towards the store while I followed Wednesday towards the park. We arrived at the entrance where a lady dressed in a historical costume welcomed us. She explained to us what we had to do and gave us our uniform similar to hers. The outfit was horrible, thank God Xavier didn't see me like that.
The morning seemed long, when we had to stand around handing out fudges.
Wednesday passed by me followed by Eugene and gestured towards the meeting house, I knew I had to follow them.
The door of the building was closed but Wednesday managed to find a way in with Eugene's retainer.
Once opened I followed Wednesday inside the building, she opened her bag and a hand came out of it.
"Thing this is Agatha, Agatha, Thing" said the girl looking for something.
I smiled, "Nice to meet you" and then went back to following her, "What are you looking for?
