They go inside the house to find Phoebe's parents and Zach's mom in the kitchen. She runs to Zach and hugs him.
"Oh my boy has found his mate I'm so happy. You know me and your father didn't find each other until after collage." Zach blushes and Phoebe giggles then Zach's mom lets him go and pulls Phoebe into a hug. "Oh your so cute look at this beautiful face Zach is lucky." Zach pries his mom off Phoebe. "Where are my manners? Hello I'm Megan Zach's mother." Phoebe shakes her hand and slowly retreats into Zach's arms a little on edge after being bear hugged.
"Oh Zach by the way, I called your father earlier and told him the good news and he's on his way here right now." Zach's face turns a mix of shocked and fearful.
"Please tell me you're joking." Megan shakes her head and Zach shoots across the street into his house with Phoebe not far behind. Phoebe's parents look at Megan and she explains Zach's father has always been a stickler for tradition.
"He's afraid that his father won't accept Phoebe because of the deluded blood line. Phoebe's parents look at each other now a little worried for the kids. A few hours later there's a knock at the smith's door and they open it to find Zach's father. He shakes there hands.
"Hello it's nice to meet you I'm Alaster Zach's father." Phoebe's parents say hello and introduce themselves then both sets of parents sit down in the kitchen and talk. After listening for a while Alaster clears his throat and asks where Zach and Phoebe are. Megan and the Smiths look at each other then at the same time say
"Your home." Alaster looks down the hall gazing at the house across the street through the window.
"Alaster think about what your about to do." Ignoring his wife Alaster begins walking across the street and in the front door. He finds Zach and Phoebe in the empty dinning room which is the largest space in the house. He watches them before speaking.
"Zach we need to talk."
"No." Zach replies quickly
"Zach she has deluded blood."
"I don't care."
"You need to you're a pure blood and the prince of our people!" Phoebe's eyes widen and she looks at Zach who is standing between her and his father. "She is-" Zach shouts cutting his father off.
"Her name is Phoebe! And she is my mate." Alaster huffs, beginning to walk toward them. Zach shifts into wolf form growling. Alaster's face becomes a mix of shock and anger.
"You dare Challenge me!" Alaster shifts in a massive dark brown wolf and begins growling. The two begin circling each other before Alaster pounces toward Zach who rises onto his hind legs fighting against his father's assault. Phoebe watches as the two fight snapping and clawing at each other. After a short time Megan and the smiths come over to see what's happening and keep their distance watching the fight. After almost an hour Alaster is about to pin Zach when a large brown female wolf tackles him away from Zach then stands between Alaster and Zach growling.
Everyone looks around and realizes Phoebe is missing and they all stare as they realize she's the female wolf. Phoebe helps Zach up and Alaster along with the others stare astonished she shifted. Zach moved in front of Phoebe still determined to protect her. Alaster shifts back to human form and sits on the floor. Zach and Phoebe look at each other then both shift back. Phoebe catches Zach as her starts to fall weak from the fight.
"You're not going to give up on the are you Zach." Alaster asks
"She's my mate dad, i'll never abandon her. Alaster sighs.
"fine i see i have no choice, but i'll warn you the council may not let this matter go so easily.
