Angel
I woke up the next morning feeling astounded. I finally was able to fulfill my wildest dream with Romeo. I still can't believe that it happened, all the lust and excitement. I've had a thing for Romeo since we were kids, however, he never thought of me in any other way than like a cousin. I know he grew up without knowing his real family, and I've been closer to him than all of those that he did consider family. But no matter how close I got to him he never looked at me the same as I did with him. It was torturous knowing how I felt about him and knowing I would never receive the same back, but I held onto hope. Now, everything feels like a puzzle with all the pieces fitting into place. Romeo is my obsession.
I get up and throw on my silk robe before walking out of the room. I look at the couch remembering every bit of joy we shared, then I noticed that he left his bedroom door open. "Silly boy," I thought to myself before walking over to his room. As I peek my head inside the dimly lit room, I see only a single ray of sunlight peering out of the window, shining straight down at his face. "God, this beautiful man is going to drive me crazy." I thought again.
I thought about climbing into bed with him but all I could do was stare at this miracle of a man. Then I had a thought, "I'll make him breakfast in bed. I have the day off anyways." So I went into the kitchen and began cooking.
A couple of minutes pass, and I felt his hand on my hips and a kiss on my neck.
"What are you doing up papi, I was going to make you breakfast in bed," I said to him as he brought his hands around holding me as I continued cooking.
"Mmm, I like when you call me that," Romeo said, giving me a smile.
I swear, it's like everything he does just drives me crazy.
"But I smelled something good and got nosey." He said.
"Thanks, I'm trying something new just for you," I said leaning back to share a kiss. "I'm making Huevos rancheros, I remember your maid Bella making them for us when we were younger and how much you liked it."
"Damn I can't believe you remembered that! Well, it looks like I definitely have to stop calling you my prima now." Said Romeo jokingly.
"Well, seeing how last night went I thought that was a given." I teased back.
He smiled before grabbing me, turning me around, and lifting me up onto the side of the counter, giving me the deepest kiss.
"Better calm down before the food gets burned and you go hungry," I said breaking the kiss.
"Well either way I'll be eating something." He said.
I gave him a playful little push before hopping down and finishing cooking. I grabbed a couple of plates and set them up and we brought them into his room and onto the bed. We began to eat and the look of amazement on his face brought back memories of when we were younger, but this time I have him.
After we ate we just laid there with my head on his bare chest, and his arms wrapped around me. I started playing with his hair like when we were kids, it was the only way he could sleep sometimes. After a while, I heard his breathing deepen and his heartbeat dance. This wonderful man fell asleep, and I couldn't help but just stare. I closed my eyes and drifted off. I still can't believe this happened, it's perfect.
I woke up to a strange noise, then a quick jerk. "What the hell was that?" I thought. Then I realized that it was Romeo, he was having a nightmare and he was drenched in sweat.
"No.... why?!" he mumbled loudly, tossing and turning.
"Romeo sshh, it's just a bad dream." I tried to say placing my hand on his chest, before he snapped, waking up and grabbing my wrist tightly.
"Romeo, you're hurting me," I said with a terrified look.
He looked scared at what he had just done and let go immediately.
"I'm so sorry, I just... It was... I didn't mean to hurt you." He said sadly.
"No, it's okay just talk to me, what happened?" I asked calming down.
"I can't tell you; I want to but you won't understand." He said looking away.
"Look no matter what it is, I'm here for you, just talk to me," I said trying to reassure him.
He continued looking away before letting out a big sigh.
"Angel, what I'm about to tell you, I need you to listen before saying anything okay? And please don't think any less of me." He said with a strange but sad look in his eyes.
"Okay, I'll listen," I said reassuring him.
He gave me a sad look, but then he began telling me. He told me everything from how they found his father murdered in cold blood in his office. How his family blamed him knowing he would never betray him or them. How they ruined his life and how they treated him like a criminal during the trials. The same family that took him in and treated him like one of their own when he was younger, or so he thought at the time. He then told me about his time in prison. That shocked me the most, this man that was so kind and gentle was apparently a savage in prison. Fighting every day and night, avoiding death, and all while being completely alone. He suffered in silence, still mourning his father. He did that every single day for five years before someone finally looked into his case and got him help. I couldn't even begin to imagine what that was like.
After he finished talking, he went silent. I was silent. I had no idea what to say or how to make him feel better. No one deserves the life he had in there. But I knew I had to try something.
"Look, I'm sorry for what they put you through. I'm sorry they were horrible disgusting people to you. But I promise I will help you in any way I can to make things right." I finally told him.
He looked at me with teary eyes, "Thank you," He said, "Thank you for not turning me away."
"I would never," I replied back, giving him a smile.
He smiled back, but I knew he was hurt from telling me everything. I know he didn't want to tell me, and I'm not sure if I was fully ready to hear all of it. But now I understand why he didn't want his "family" to know he was around. But if we don't act fast, they'll be sure to find out with their connections. If there's one thing I know for sure, I'll never let them hurt him again.
"Look we have to think of something or else they'll come after you," I said after a while.
"What can I do? Every time they cross my mind I get so furious and frustrated I can't think straight." He said.
"Let me talk to a friend and see if they're willing to help?" I told him with a sincere look. "I want to help however I can."
"How can your friend help someone like me?" He said doubtfully.
"Trust me, the Casters aren't the only ones in this city with powerful friends," I replied reassuringly.
He nodded in agreement and gave me a kiss. I knew I would go to the ends of the earth for this man, and no matter what happens, I will not let him down.
I didn't lie when I said that I have powerful friends in this city. Actually, I know the most powerful people this city has ever known. Some call them saints, some call them sinners, but I know who they really are. If it comes to helping someone in need, they'll be my first choice every time.
"Tell me, Romeo, what do you know of the Castillo family?" I asked.
"The who?" He questioned back.
"The Castillo dynasty to be exact, they're known for basically owning half of New York chico. They own multiple hotels, most of the ports, a few pipelines, and tourist hotspots for the wealthy." I told him.
His eyes widened and he looked amazed.
"How do you know such people? And do you think they'll help?" He asked.
"Just trust me, I have connections too," I said with a smile. "Now let's rest easy and get some sleep," I say taking his hand and wrapping it around me.
As I began to play with his hair again for a while, we both start to nod off.
All I know is that I hope this works. I have never used this card before, but hopefully, it'll be worth it for his sake. I can't let him down, no, I will not let him down. Not with all that he's been through.
