Chapter 10: Romeo

Romeo

I opened my eyes and immediately began gasping for air. I felt pain all over my body and the coldness of the ground on my back. I finally caught my breath and tried to get up, but the pain was too intense. There was a sharp pain all over but mostly in my ribs and legs, "what the hell happened?" I thought to myself confusingly. I managed to fight through the pain and rolled over onto my stomach, and that's when I saw her. Angel lay there motionless, just a couple of feet away from me and I could blood pooling around her. My eyes widened and I screamed.

"ANGEL! PLEASE SAY SOMETHING!" I screamed out with tears running down my face.

She didn't move, she just lay there and didn't reply. I knew I had to help her, so through all the pain, I started to crawl just to get to where she was. I could feel my body struggling to move, but I couldn't stop, I needed to get to her. I kept crawling until I could see that her eyes were still open, and she was still breathing.

"That's a good sign," I thought, trying to convince myself everything would be okay.

I continued to crawl until her eyes suddenly closed. "OH MY GOD, NO ANGEL PLEASE!" I cried out fearing the worst.

"HELP!" I yelled out hoping someone would come running.

I crawled until I finally got to her, and lay beside her, not wanting to move her in case I made something worse. "How did this happen?" I thought, trying to remember the moments that happened before.

Suddenly I heard footsteps approaching from behind us. It sounded like two men as they walked closer, whispering to each other.

"Look, he's still moving," said one of them.

"Yeah I can fucking see that wise ass, Let's just hurry up and do this," said the other.

I turned around unaware of what they were talking about, "Hey, I need help over here," I called out.

"Yeah, Yeah we're here to help buddy," the first man said.

I looked back at Angel with hope in my eyes and before I could turn back around to thank them, I get hit over the head with something hard and everything went black.

Moments later, I woke up, in and out in a daze and a pain in my head as well as my body. I didn't know what had happened, but I could tell that I was tied up in the backseat of a car. Just then, I heard a familiar voice. I was still fading in and out of consciousness, but I could make out what they said slightly.

"Yeah someone found her, she's at the hospital now," said the first man.

"All I'm saying is I'm not trying to do time for killing some girl, so are you sure she made it there?" said the other.

"Look I'm telling you, I called and left a tip, then I saw someone run up to her as we were leaving. I got it handled," the first man replied.

At that time my head started pounding furiously and I blacked out again. The blackness took me over, while the delusions of laughter, screams, and pain filled my head. I could see Angel flying in the air with wings on her back, then a loud screeching came around and before I knew it, she was falling to the earth. No matter how fast I ran to save her, it seemed as if I were getting further and further away. Just as I got close enough my legs gave out and chains wrapped around them as I fell to my knees. Unable to move, I had no choice but to watch her body impact the ground, as she lay there motionless. I tried to crawl towards her but the chains came alive and started pulling me back. I fought long and hard to move closer to her but the more I fought, the more the chains pulled. Every muscle in my body was drained but I kept trying until my hands also gave out. As I was being pulled away, her body turned towards me with her eyes wide open and she screamed.
