You were in your barracks getting ready for the mission ahead of you each one was getting their weapons ready until Mason asked you.
Mason: "so... you went through the same as me huh?"
Y/N: "maybe not exactly the same as you... but yeah something similar."
Korevyv: "i don't mean to pry, but what exactly happened to ya on... you know from where you two came from?"
Mason: "i thought the president told everything."
He said with a smirk.
Korevyv: "well yeah but i want to know more."
Mason: "i guess i'll start from the beginning; i was originally a part of the united states army delta force, we were sent to hold off the pandemic that hit recently but to no avail, since we were constantly on the run chased wether by the infected or the remaining Russian military.
My squad was keeping overwatch on one of our convoys from an abandoned apartment building while they were restocking on food and ammo and refueling. Not 10 minutes have passed until we were called down to regroup with our convoy when a Russian light armored vehicle ambushed us and took us by surprise. All the fucking gunfire attracted nearly every goddamn infected within a mile radius.
Our convoy may have fought off the Russians but we were overwhelmed and, eventually overrun by dozens of them. So we had to get out of te building before we could get trapped inside by the horde; so we exited the building and headed for the convoy until a Russian sniper shot a squad mate in the leg not only crippling him but also turning the whole horde's attention to us.
Another one of my squad mates tried to help him up.
It was in that moment that i knew that the world had changed and it was every man for himself.
I didn't want to leave them behind but it was all i could do."
You noticed his eye color changed a bit to yellow but you dismissed it due to the rush.
"I can still hear their screams on the radio in my sleep.
after that it was just my squad leader and I.
About a month later we found a technological research facility; so we headed inside hoping to find some advanced weaponry.
We later found inside a prototype interdimensional teleporter. My squad leader 1st lieutenant Sean Franklin gave me his HK416 and his dog tags and made me go through the portal due to the necessity of someone shutting it down from the other side.
I just hope he put an end to it under his own terms rather than let himself get torn apart by the infected."
Y/N: "well... i used to be a mechanic and technician... before the collapse. I retreated from the city and fled to the Appalachian right after the pandemic hit along with other people they came from everywhere... farmers, city folk, entire families. We had protection from the military, everyone used to be friends until the supplies, food and water started to rattle then the families started to fight over the supplies that were left. At first i thought the walkers would freeze with the cold... didn't know how wrong we were...
The infected at first came in groups no bigger than three or four, the consecutive days they started to arrive in dozens, then in centenary's the military did a pretty decent job at keeping them at bay but that didn't last for long. When they ran out of ammo they only helped to strengthen the walkers lines. I fled with 14 survivors which among them was a scientist which would later on help me escape. We lost a survivor each week due to te cold, a sickness or a walker. Until all that was left was mr. smart ass and me. Well... at least the families up there get along now..."
You said with a little bit of grief although you didn't show it.
You finished loading your weapons and headed to the airplane and waited for the rest of your squad mates. What you didn't know was that Alexis and Vela had overheard your conversation.
Soon the girls arrived and went to join you guys on the airplane.
And soon you took off to the gobi desert.
The plan was simple: you would be incognito, dressed as the Chinese military and infiltrate the facility to retrieve an artifact which the intelligence thought it could turn the secret weapon against the Chinese and the Russians.
