Sunrays beam past the blinds and into my face, The Mexican heat begins to take hold. Without air conditioning, I can't sleep long. I sluggishly kick the blankets off allowing air to flow onto my sweaty naked body. From the living room, I can hear someone speaking through the radio.

To find out what's going on, I roll out of bed and dress. Ghost's cum still stains my thigh but there's no point in showering. I would have to put the same dirty clothes back on regardless.

"Good morning! I hope y'all got some rest" I emerge from the bedroom refreshed for the day. Although I fell asleep somewhat bothered, I'm not going to let him see that.

"Rest?" Alejandro chuckles under his breath.

"General Shepherd wants to speak with you," Ghost calls me over as if nothing ever happened between us.

For the sake of being mature, I keep my true thoughts to myself. "Hello? this is Mia Adams" I say into the gadget.

"Ms. Adams it's great to hear your voice. We're working on getting you back home. Hang tight!" the man speaks with a Southern accent.

His enthusiasm is promising, "I understand, it's been a crazy couple of days".

"You sound like you're handling it well, to be frank, I thought you would be a mess" the General admits.

Inappropriately Ghost adds his two cents, "Of course not, we're taking good care of her" his eyes glance over to me. I hold back my reaction, trying to make a good impression on General Sheperd.

"I can always count on you boys to get the job done. I'll check back in later with updates" he signs off.

It's not the news I was expecting but at the very least I'm grateful not to be in danger anymore, "So I'm guessing we're gonna be here for a while" I think out loud.

"Yep but we have a friend stopping by to deliver a few packages, Phillip Graves. He owns Shadow Company" the tanned-skinned Brit, whom they call Gaz acknowledges me for the first time. He's been quiet up until now.

"What's that?" I ask.

"A private military organization, they're mercenaries basically" he lays it out in simple terms.

"Shit, so y'all aren't like normal soldiers?" My eyes glance at the patches on their uniform. I'm not well educated on how the military works but I can tell they're not your average army men.

Gaz shows off the 'Task Force 141' emblem on his shoulder, "We're special forces, the best of the best. That's why they called us to rescue you".

Out of nowhere it hits me, I never told them how appreciative I am. The last twenty-four hours have been so hectic. "Thank you, I know it might not seem like it but I'm thankful y'all helped me out of that situation" I graciously express to all of them.

"Nah, you don't have to thank us. It's our job. We took an oath of service when we decided to enlist" Gaz smiles.

Suddenly interrupting us, Ghost interjects with a random question, "You fancy a cuppa?" he asks me in a strange tone.

"Excuse me" my eyes narrow at the strange phrase.

The three British soldiers burst out laughing, "He's asking you if you want tea" Soap tries to contain himself as he translates. Although we all speak English so much of their slang goes over my head.

"Sure" I shrug, still slightly confused about the whole cuppa thing.

Ghost goes into the kitchen and I follow after him. He already has the electric kettle warmed up from earlier. We were lucky to end up in such a lovely place, it's equipped with all types of appliances and non-perishable food. There's no way this house is abandoned.

"So about last night...You left in a hurry" I figure it's a good time to have this conversation since we're alone.

"I'm on the job, Mia. What do you expect? It was fun but quite frankly it shouldn't have happened" his voice raises slightly but not loud enough for us to be overheard. The other men are having their own discussion

"I know" my head hangs a little. Hearing him say that hurt in a way I'm not used to. I can only think of a few times I've had to deal with rejection.

He slides over a mug of tea and then joins the rest of his team in the living room again. At first, I thought he was being flirty but I was so wrong.

Tears cloud my vision, as I gaze out the small window. The dense forest is serene, the opposite of what I'm feeling. Before any wetness falls down my cheeks I rub my eyes dry. I have to pull it together. Ghost is a single man, he doesn't have any obligations to me. He's only a step above a stranger.

With my cup in hand, I creep near the living room and eavesdrop. "When are we gonna get back in the action? I didn't enlist to be a babysitter" Alejandro complains about the mission.

"Maybe we can pass her off to Graves? Shepard would have to approve, but we could try" Ghost gives a solution that they all can get behind.

Ouch, the pain and humiliation bruises my ego. I didn't know I was such a burden to them. I get being stuck in a house isn't the greatest thing in the world but damn they're brutal. Quickly I gulp down the tea and run back into the bedroom. After what we did last night how could he be so careless?

I slam the door behind me and collapse onto the bed. In a fit of rage I scream into a pillow. I hate that I even care about him, it was just sex but I can't get over it.
