Summary:
Time is of the essence, but Bucky and Lilly make sure to spare at least a few minutes to enjoy each other's company. Does it matter that they are surrounded by people?
Not this time!
Bucky had never felt out of his depth with such intensity before. The unfamiliar and irritating electronic music loud in his ears. As much as he tried to ignore it, the beat of the music set a strange rhythm in his heart. Making his skin crawl and his mind go to dark places. All he wanted was to get out of that place as soon as he could, but the thought of having her in his arms again soothed his mind. Eased his nightmares.
His eyes observed one of the paintings in front of him. The contrast between the colors giving him something to focus on and analyze instead of letting the place get to him. Bringing a sense of peacefulness. The people dancing around him were a blur in the corner of his vision until... until a white dress walked by, catching his attention.
She walked with purpose. Her presence alone enough to make people unconsciously move away. Her dark, dark hair alone made pleasant shivers run down his entire body. The adrenaline rush made him move. But not away, close, always close. She stopped, searching for something, and when a random man approached, she barely glanced at him before he scampered away. She moved again, and Bucky followed. A wolf hunting for his prey.
His eyes followed her until they couldn't anymore. He groaned frustratedly and clenched his jaw. Stretching his neck and shoulders, he felt his phone vibrate in his pants pocket. He decided to ignore it and kept on his hunt. She couldn't have gone too far. He rounded one of the tables and watched the crowd. The phone rang again, and he cursed in a low growl, disregarding it. He marched on, one thing in his mind. Soft red lips smiling at him in the back of his mind. He went straight to the painting area again and felt the phone vibrate for the third time. Without looking, he answered.
"You took your time." Lily's tone playful in his ear. "I see you." Her low tone made him close his eyes and wet his lower lip. "Check your messages." After that, she hung up.
Without a second to lose, he fumbled with his phone until he found the correct app. What is a wolf like you doing surrounded by sheep?
I'm looking for my prey. Would you happen to know where she is? He hit the button with a grin on his face. A second later, he got a reply.
What would happen to her if I told you?
They had never played that kind of game before, and the thought of where it was leading spurred him on. I think the best question is, 'what will happen if you don't? He looked around. Waiting to see her smiling at him from the crowd.
That is not how this works, soldier.
He read the simple sentence and thought about a suitable answer because the ones that crossed his mind were things he wanted to tell her in person. Preferably with her beneath him. I can think of many things. But for starters, I would kiss her breath away. Nibble on the sensitive spot on her neck. Curl my fingers around the hair on the back of her head. Bite her lips and make her whimper my name.
