Meredith Grey

Derek and I walk into the gym and nobody realizes at first, I don't know what I was expecting but then I also realize that we aren't in high school anymore we are adults.

"This kind of reminds me of prom" I giggle.

"It kind of does but during prom I had to sneak away to be with you" he says.

"Yeah that's true I like being able to be with you better" I grin and he nods kissing my head and I close my eyes for a second just taking it all in.

"We knew it" Alex says walking over to us.

"We knew this is why you wanted to come" Cristina says.

"You knew?" Derek asks.

"Yes, even though Meredith never said anything we figured you two had something going on in high school" Izzie says.

"Was it that obvious?" Derek asks.

"Just a little bit" Denny chuckles softly.

"I think Derek and I are going to leave early and alex and Cristina can take my car home" I say.

"You know that plan doesn't sound so bad" Derek smiles kissing my neck.

"Okay bye" I wave to my friends and Derek and I walk out, god I have missed him.

"Hm you really want to be alone with me" he smirks.

"Yes I do" I smile as he grabs my hand as we walk out to his car.

"Good it makes me feel special" he says and I giggle at him, he is such an idiot.

"You are special" I say as we get into the car.

"In a good or bad way?" he asks.

I look at him and shrug, "bad" I say and he gasps.

Flashback:

"What the fuck!" I shout as Derek holds my neck and pushes my body against the lockers as everyone watches. I actually enjoy it but they don't know that.

"You're a worthless, pathetic piece of shit!" he shouts at me.

"You're not and you know that, I love you" he whispers quickly and I try my hardest not to smile.

I gasp and I smack him in the face. "You are such an ass leave me alone" I fake beg.

"You cunt!" he says hitting the lockers next to us making me jump slightly because I wasn't really expecting that.

"Derek leave me alone" I say pushing at him but he just gets closer to me.

He leans his head down to whisper in my ear making it look like his words are actually hurting me. "I love you so much sweetheart you know I don't think of you like this" he whispers and I slightly smile but then go back to a scared hurt girl.

He pulls away from me aggressively and I slide down the lockers and put my hands on my neck with a blank expression on my face.

"Meredith are you okay?" some of my friends come over while the others look at me in disgust and follow Derek out, little did they know.

End of flashback:

"Here is my house" he says stopping the car.

"Wow" I say looking at it, his house is like a fucking mansion.

He chuckles and gets out and walks over to my door opening it. I take his hand and get out. "I wish I could afford this" I say, a teachers salary is low.

"Football player" he says softly.

"Well maybe I'll just stay here, for the house" I smile at him.

"I wouldn't mind" he grins leading me inside.

"Okay so when am I moving in?" I giggle looking around.

"Whenever you'd like" he grins.

"I was kidding" I say.

"I know you were but I wasn't" he says.

"What?" I ask.

"Meredith I still love you, ten years is such a long time but I still love you I still have all of our pictures together and the ones I would take of you sleeping, I think about you all the time and I always feel guilty about leaving you, but I'm just saying I'll always be here" he says.

"I still love you too" I smile hugging him and kissing his lips softly.

When we pull away I see something out of the corner of my eye. I let go of him and walk over to the picture frame sitting up on the stand. It's a picture of Derek and I on Christmas. I pick it up and smile, I remember this it was so much fun.

We were standing under the mistletoe and Amelia forced us to kiss because that was the rule. I run my fingers over it. "What do people say when they see this picture?" I ask looking up at him as he walks in my direction.

He sighs with a small chuckle sitting down and pulling me onto his lap and he rests his head on my shoulder. "Mark and Jackson tell me to move on, my parents always say that they miss you, and the team doesn't know who you are they make up a whole bunch of stories, my personal favorite is that you're my wife who teaches children in Africa" he says.

"I am a kindergarten teacher so I mean, they got one part right" I giggle.

"I want to be with you Meredith. I want to date you. I want to create more memories with you,
I don't want to move on from you Meredith I love you" he says.

"We should date, it would be like our second first date" I smile.

"Yeah?" he asks.

"Yeah" I nod.

"We are going on a second first date baby!" he chuckles and I shake my head at his enthusiasm.

God everything about him is so perfect.

"And maybe after that we can be a couple again but usually that doesn't happen on a first date" I say.

"Yeah but this is a second first date so it's different" he says.

"You do have a point there" I say.

"Yeah I'm smart" he shrugs.

"No you're not" I say.

"I am too" he argues.

"Are not" I argue back.

The argument lasts for a while before he finally gives in and I win. I always win he can't handle me losing because then I act all sad and he hates when I get sad.

"I also want to see your family I missed them and I want to meet your team" I say.

"After you become my girlfriend, yeah of course" he says.

Rude.

"You can't keep me from your family" I pout.

"I can" he nods.

"Fine our second first date is tomorrow night" I say.

"I don't have a problem with that" he shrugs and I smile.

"The sooner the better" I say.

"You're right" he agrees

"Of course I am" I giggle and he sighs softly and buries his face in my hair breathing my sent.

He's an idiot, but even after all these years he is still my idiot, and I love him for it.
