The sun poked through the curtains in the room, straight into my eyes. My first day in Madrid ended without another incident, thank god. My grandma took me for lunch and we chatted some more, but came back to the apartment which was located near Parque del Retiro. I hardly unpacked before my head hit the pillow and I was out like a light. I let out a sigh, rubbing my eyes and going on my phone.

Once I had replied to Cristian's unnecessarily rude comment, I dragged myself out of bed and out into the kitchen. My grandmother was cooking, smiling brightly when I walked in. "There she is! How'd you sleep, preciosa?"
"Amazing" I said, sitting down at the kitchen table. "I was way more tired than I felt"
"Well, it's good you got some sleep then! I am just about finished with these eggs" Julia smiled, looking over her shoulder at me. "What's your plan for these next few weeks?"
Julia placed a plate in front of me, following it up with a cup of coffee. I dug right in. "I have a few interviews set up two weeks from now and won't be starting work for a month, but that's about it" I spoke.
"And for today?"
"I'm supposed to text Cristian's friend Emilio" I replied, wiping my lips with a napkin.
"That sounds fun! I'm going grocery shopping late today so if you have any preferences or need anything just let me know, alright?"
"Gracias, Abuela" I kissed my grandma on the cheek, getting up to rinse my plates. "But I love your cooking, so don't worry about me"
After helping Julia clean up the kitchen, I returned to my room and grabbed my phone.
