You outstretched your hand over the vast green pine. Black chains followed your command like rabid dogs, tearing the soft flesh of the earth and spraying its rocky innards about the countryside.
Chara seemed agitated, sharp nails digging into your shoulder. Short grunting breathes escaped her as she jabbed her small hand at another hill. With wild eyes, she barked again. "There! Strike there next!"
As soon as you'd seen the figures, they vanished, leaving only a memory of the weight you'd felt. Not too far away, you could hear the frightened screaming of people blended by the overpowering sound of sirens. Chara panted in your ear like a hell hound. Had you not known better, you'd think she was frothing at the mouth. "How did they get here?? Even a coward like Frisk should have been able to kill that old goat!"
"Frisk?" You asked, hand relaxing as you spared a glance at your friend. The name felt familiar on your tongue, but when you tried to focus on it, you only found static like every other time.
Chara ignored your utterance, instead gripping you tightly and pointing over your shoulder. "There they are!"
You cleared the stray thought from your mind and followed her direction. Silhouetted by the moon stood two figures. Red vapor trickled from them as though their power was too much to be contained. You stiffened, lifting your palm toward them with steadied breath. "I see them." You assured Chara.
Black bolts tore from the earth, ripping towards the two. They converged on the target in second, but as the cloud of dust cleared, you found them nowhere. You could feel Chara's rage radiating through you.
"Those....ragh... (Y/N) don't let them distract you! You can't stop! Don't let them touch you!"
You could hear the sharp snapping of tree limbs as a grand trident spiraled towards you. The pressure alone was enough to alert you of its presence. You didn't have time to turn, but your wings untucked, propelling you away. You could feel as the weapon grazed your wings, but you had no time to consider your luck.
As your eyes turned up, you found a crimson barrier seemingly made of bone. Throwing your hand upward, your magic struck through, a rain of shards quickly dissolving to dust. As the wall shattered, beyond you found one of your assailants. They were short in stature, a tattered jacket seeming to ploom around them. Your eyes strained trying to make out their face, but shadows seemed to consume their entire head. You pushed forward, attempting to escape before feeling your leg jerked back.
Looking down, a large spiked vine crawled over your leg. Your eyes widened as with a sharp yank, you swung down towards the ground. Your wings braced you crashed down again. However, this time, you barely had the chance to breathe before the vine was pulling you. You dug your hands into the dirt, attempting to slow your capture.
Chara, somehow still at your side, growled. She jumped from her perch, throwing out her arm dramatically. A ball of red energy collected in her palm and from it formed a blade. It felt like your energy drained from you as it formed, but you only had time to react as she swung the blade downward. Despite her small form, it was almost like she had the insurmountable strength of a God in her arms. The vines cut cleanly, retreating into the distance.
Her ruby eyes fixed on you again. For the first time, you felt your chest sink as she met your gaze. Horrible fear filled you as you found your reflection in her hateful eyes. She tucked the blade away and ran back towards you. You stumbled to your feet as she yanked on your arm, feeling a mild pain radiate through your ankle. "Come on. They're going to capture us." She ordered.
In her words came in an eerie calm. You followed dutifully, allowing her to climb your shoulder again. She grumbled to herself, though you couldn't tell what she was speaking about. Instead, you focused on collecting the remnants of your power and forming a strong shell of barbs around you, twisting and undulating sporadically.
