Mia McGonagall walked into the staffroom. It was the first day of the new school year. And she had yet to learn who the replacement for Professor Quirrel was.

She sat down next to Severus. She smiled. "Do we know who this years competitor is?" She asked.

"Minerva is about to tell us."

Mia shrugged and smirked. "Maybe it could be another dungeon dweller like you. You could finally have a best friend," she joked.

"I find you no more amusing then last time I saw you," Severus said as he looked to her.

Mia was the only one who could talk to Severus like she did and get away with it. She looked to him and grinned. "You'd be lost without me."

Before anything, Minerva walked in. She looked to her granddaughter. "Albus has asked me to tell you that the defence against the dark arts teacher this year will be Gilderoy Lockhart."

Mia's eyes widened. She looked in shock. "You're kidding. They've hired someone who is as obsessed with his hair as I am. And I'm female. He's... yet to be determined."

"Order of Merlin not doing it for you?" Severus asked as he stood up.

"Oh haha. I don't find you funny in the slightest," Mia said. She groaned. "Why him? Why not someone else. Why not you? You know more about dark arts then that dimwit."

Severus rolled his eyes. He turned and walked off. Leaving Mia standing there alone.

All too soon it was time for the start of term feast. Mia sat down next to Severus. She groaned as she saw Gilderoy Lockhart. "I see prince Pompous is here," she mumbled.

Severus wasn't listening. He was looking down at the pupils. "Potter and Weasley aren't here," he said as he looked to her.

Mia frowned. "I'm sure they are. They're probably just avoiding you. Cause they know you're evil," she told him.

Severus rolled his eyes. "I will return."

"What? Don't leave me with him!" Mia hissed.

Severus said nothing as he walked off. Mia groaned as Lockhart sat down next to her. "And you must be Mia McGonagall. It's a pleasure to meet you," he said.

Mia inwardly rolled her eyes. Not wanting to deal with him. She inwardly cursed Severus for leaving her to deal with him.

Mia backed away in her chair as Gilderoy looked to her and smirked. "So since we are the hottest professors here. What do you say we do something about it?" He asked.

Mia looked to him. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me. Lights out. You can come to my dorm. And I can show you the time of your life," he said as he placed a hand on her thigh.

Minerva sat across the table narrowing her eyes at Gilderoy. Not liking how close he was to her granddaughter.

"I'd rather take my chances with Dumbledore. Excuse me," Mia said as she walked off.

She wanted to be away from him. He made her feel sick. And she didn't want him hear her. Never mind touching her.

The thought of what he was suggesting made her want to throw up.

Mia got to Severus chambers. He answered the door. He looked to her as she walked in. She grabbed herself a drink. "Can I help you?" He asked.

Mia nodded and poured another drink. "Yes. Keep that creep Lockhart away from me. He suggested things. And if I repeat them, I will be sick."

"Well if you had a partner I'm sure he'd stay away. Or if he thought so," Severus said.

Mia downed her drink. She looked to him and frowned. "What are you suggesting?" She asked as he smirked slightly.

Severus stepped forward. "That we make it look as if you have a boyfriend. Me. What do you say?" He asked.

Mia frowned. But she nodded in agreement. "Okay," Mia said.

Little did she know how this would change everything.
