Chapter 1

*This is my first fanfic so bear with me. I'll try to make it the least bit interesting*

MARLEY'S POV

High school can be a struggle.

Sure there are the good times with your family and friends but there are the bad times too.

Alcohol, drugs, pregnancy, love and all the stuff that fills the lives of a normal teenager... But I'm not a normal teen.

I read books and use my time for things likes Math and Science.

I've never been the girl who everyone loved. Not pretty or popular but one thing I am is smart.

But being smart isn't an asset is it? Well as you might have guessed, it isn't. But why fall for the cliche of a perfect popular life when I could be different.

Although I seemed to think that way, super dude, class president, and not to mention my best friend, Declan, didn't.

He preferred to be what everyone seemed to love, smooth, charming, super attractive, and a total asshole. A player to say the least, but he is my bestfriend so I dealt with it.

Yes, I said "best friend"

Any person in their right mind would be shocked to see the star of the school with the loser of the year, but he was.

Somehow, despite all of our differences, we worked really well together.

And speaking of the devil.

Walking down the hall was the star himself. Pointing at the girls that flooded the hallways at his arrival.

Making every teacher and student swoon at his boyish charm.

Those luscious locks of golden brown hair.

That cheesy smile of his.

Those muscular arms that you could just hol-

"Marley Rose!" He shouted at an almost unbearable volume in my ear. Jolting me out of thought.

"Declan Chance" I shouted back. Being sure that all of the attention from his adoring "fans" stayed on him.

"How is my best friend at this fine hour?"

"Fine, and how is my best friend?"

"Oh I'm-"

"Shh" I pressed my fingers to his soft lips "I wasn't talking to you. I don't even like you"

Dead silence.

Followed by a series of uncontrollable laughing spasms.

We were the best of friends and had been for the longest time.

Just friends.
