Regressed Chris, Regressed Matt.
Not proof read! Better than nothing.
Matthew laid on the living room floor, staring mindlessly up at the ceiling. Around this time they would be put down for a nap, but with Chris's constant crying and clinginess Nick couldn't take a moment to help Matt.
He stayed laying on the floor the whole time as Nick rocked Chris in his arms, doing slow laps around the house.
They didn't know what was wrong with him, but Nick was doing anything he could to find out. He took a seat on the couch, dropping Chris between his legs so the smaller could stand.
Maybe he wanted to be put down? Nick thought, but that was not the case when Chris went back to clinging onto him.
"Tell me what's wrong baby?" Nick sighed as he held Chris's head to his chest. Chris only continued on crying, latching his sweaty hands onto his neck.
"Mmmm!" he whined as he hugged Nick.
Everything replayed itself. Nick picked him up and rocked him some more, whispering comforting words to the smaller, hoping anything would cheer him up, still ignoring the other on the floor.
Nick's eyes wandered around the room, landing on Matt. He gave the smaller a soft smile watching as Matthew blushed. He brought his hands up, making grabby hands, but Nick ignored his needs, going back to rubbing Chris's back.
"Not now Matt." He replied, kissing Chris on the cheek, "Stay still baby, stop jerking around too much." He told the other.
Matt only glanced at the two before looking back at the ceiling. He knew, through Chris's actions, that something was wrong, but he couldn't help, but be jealous with all the attention he was receiving.
As he stared up at the ceiling, he began ignoring everything around him. His eyes got heavy as he watched their shadows leave the living room. His room was just down the hallway, maybe he should go to his and just go to sleep? But he never went to sleep without Nick's help!
He tried to keep his eyes open the best he could as their footsteps disappeared, signaling that they had gone downstairs.
He yawned, rubbing his eyes as he continued to stare up, time was passing by slowly, too slow for his own good.
The sky outside had gone down, making their apartment dark, and the small light they had on coming from the upstairs overview was barely doing justice.
Matt rolled over onto his stomach, what was taking them so long?
He grabbed his pacifier off the coffee table, lazily sliding it past his lips. He sat on the floor for a minute, trying to wake himself up.
It was dark and quiet, the only noise coming from their jankey AC running. He stood up trying to find something to hold onto. He held onto the edge of the couch as his vision adjusted to the darkness in front of him, leading to the kitchen part of the house where the light from upstairs didn't shine.
He grabbed his blanket, wrapping it around himself as he toddled into the darkness, desperately trying to find the light switch, which thankfully didn't take him long to find. Next was where the others had gone..,
Downstairs.
The stairs led to darkness as he stood from the top. The light needed to be fixed so he knew the switch wouldn't have been any help.
He took one step down, feeling his heart beating faster by the second.
Just a couple more steps, just a couple more.
He tried to calm himself down, but in truth he couldn't.
A few more.
He whined at the possible scenarios that could happen, but he knew his brothers were down there, so he had to go to them.
"D-daddy!" He cried as his socks hit the bottom step, he was in the darkness now. The only light coming from underneath Chris's door.
"Daddy!" He cried once again, as his heart clenched for comfort.
He flinched when the floor creaked, immediately sending him into terror.
'What if someone came through the garage and-'
He fell to his knees, sobbing to himself.
"No, no, no, NO!" He whined, holding himself, "Daddy! Please! C-chrissy!"
Nothing came through as a response to his cries.
His mind was full of pulling tricks with him, making him imagine figures and voices.
He wanted to scream, he wanted to be held, but he couldn't.
He buried his head into his blanket as his hands hit the ground, forcing himself to crawl to the room.
He tried to find the door knob, failing multiple times, but securing it when he felt it rub past his hand.
He twisted the handle, wasting no time to barge in. As tears streamed down, practically soaking himself, "DADDY!" He cried out for the last time as the door opened.
Nick was sitting on Chris's bed, holding him in his arms as he rocked him back and forth.
He sternly looked up from Chris, meeting eyes with Matt. Chris shifted in his sleep, drawing out small whines as he latched back onto Nick for comfort.
Matt came in grabbing onto Nick.
He needed this.., but unfortunately it was bad timing.
Nick shook Matt's grabby hands off of him, giving him a stern glare as he shushed Chris back to sleep.
"Really Matthew?!" He groaned, "You almost woke him up!" He shouted.
Nick didn't know it right now, but as the words left his mouth he was killing Matt's heart.
Matt clenched his blanket around his face as he looked down at the floor, sniffling as he took the speech Nick had.
"You almost woke him up! I mean what do you have to say for yourself!?" Nick sighed.
"I-i- didn't- sor-" Matthew whined as he tried to keep himself from regressing any further.
"Ah- ah- shush and don't speak until I'm done!" Nick ordered, "You've been so needy today! I mean c'mon. So jealous of Chris-" Nick shook his head, noticing the tears falling from Matt's eyes.
His tears dropped to the floor as he waited for Nick to continue.
"Matt- come here!" Nick frowned, making moves to pull the smaller up onto the bed, but Matt pulled away in a hurry.
"no" He sniffed, "no touch!"
"Matt- I'm sorry!" Nick tried, but it was no luck. He had hurt Matt.
And no matter what Nick said Matt didn't stay, he took off without even thinking. He regretted everything. He knew he was needy, he always was.
So....,
Maybe he did deserve this, to be alone.
