Mia yawned as she took another drink of her energy drink. She pulled out her phone and yawned again.

Daddy, too tired. Sleep in office. Night night.

Not getting a response, she glanced at her watch and winced when she saw it was eight in the morning. Guzzling down the rest of her energy drink, she tossed it in the recycling bin and started to head to her newly appointed office to crash on the couch. Just as she unlocked the door, her phone vibrated.

I'm stuck in a meeting at the moment that I can't leave. Try and stay awake, Darling, two of the guys are on their way to pick you up. You can go to sleep once they get there. I know you are exhausted but you need to stay awake long enough to give them the car keys.

Fine but no like she pouted as she yawned again. Maybe she should go get another energy drink to help her stay awake.

No more energy drinks either.

But...

No

Fine

She pouted then stuck an angry emoji to him while he just sent back a smirk one. Sitting down at the desk she sighed and pulled out a folder that contained a report she needed to complete. She figured she might as well and try to accomplish it while she was waiting, it would help her stay awake for a bit anyway. Just as she finished it and opened another one, the door opened.

"Hey Doc, ready to get out of here?" Axel asked as he strolled in.

"You aren't working today?" She asked confused.

"I go in later, Doll," he smirked. "I get to help make sure our new jelly fish arrived safely in about three hours," he glanced at his watch. "Is there anything you need to grab from here?"

"Just my laptop and files," she covered her mouth and yawned, "sorry."

"Don't be," he shook his head, "you worked some really long hours."

"Dr. Gillyard," A nurse knocked and walked in. "They want you in...oh hello."

"You were saying Nurse?" Mia asked with forced politeness.

"Oh, they want you in surgery to assist," she said nonchalantly. "Hi, I don't think we've met, I'm Joyce."

"And I'm taken," Axel said coldly. "Dr. Gillyard?" he asked with a low growl.

"Where is Dr. Hubbard?" Mia asked confused.

"He can't come in because his wife has the flu. You have to cover. They need you asap." She turned back to Axel, "I can keep your friend company, so he won't be lonely."

"I've been here over twelve hours," Mia frowned. "Who else is on call?"

"No one," the nurse said sternly. "They told me to come have you step in. The patient is already on the table and waiting, Doctor."

"Very well," Mia sighed and grabbed an energy drink from the mini fridge.

"Ok, thanks Dr. Green, see you in just a few," Axel smirked as he hung up his phone. "Dr. Green is on his way, Dr. Gillyard, you won't need that drink."

She caught the meaning and put it back in the fridge, "okay, thank you for contacting him."

"Of course," he nodded then turned to the nurse, "yes?" he asked so coldly that she flinched.

"Go inform the surgeons that Dr. Green will be here any moment," Mia commanded.

"Fine," she sighed in annoyance and stormed out of the office.

"Is he mad?" She asked nervously.

"At you?" Axel asked and she nodded. "No," he shook his head. "He's mad they are trying to force you back into such a hectic pace especially after working all night long. You need sleep and the fact they don't have anyone on call is what makes him the most frustrated. Just so you know he's going to be strictly professional and he doesn't want you to take his anger personally when he snaps at you."

"Okay," she nodded as she gathered her things then followed Axel out of the office.

"Dr. Gillyard, I said you were needed in surgery immediately!"

"I've worked over 12 hours, Dr. Gillespe, I'm not stable for surgery right now," she tried to protest. "I'm a liability at the moment."

"Did I say you were performing?" He spat angrily. "I said you were assisting, now get down there immediately! What the hell were you thinking contacting Dr. Green?"

"She didn't."

"Dr. Green," Dr. Gillespe gasped, "I...I..."

"What are you still doing here Doctor?" Sean snapped putting his blazing green eyes on Mia. "I made it very clear you were to leave immediately. Get out of my hospital now. I won't risk a lawsuit over your stubbornness."

"Yes Sir," Mia said nodding before leaving with Axel right behind her.

"There you are," Brandon smirked as he spotted her. "Hey, everything okay?" he asked noticing her tense mood.

"Fine," she mumbled as he opened the door for her.

"Doll, wait," Axel said rushing to her side. "Are you okay? Doc wasn't too harsh, was he?"

"No," she shook her head. "I...I..."

"What, Babe?" Brandon asked.

"If you hadn't warned me, I would believe it," she mumbled. "He was like Owen."

"He can be when he needs to," Axel nodded, "we all can."

"Come on," Brandon smirked, "Let's get the doc home and in bed for her beauty sleep."
