Chapter 27

"What happened?" Owen asked as he came into the living room and sat at his desk. "Where's Darling?"

"I'm right here, Daddy," she said coming into the living room with North right behind her holding a tray. Owen pushed his seat back and she instantly sat in his lap, beaming when he wrapped his arm around her stomach as North placed the food on Owen's desk.

"Holy shit, she gets to eat at Blackbourne's desk!" Gabe gasped.

"Of course she get's special treatment," Victor smiled, "she's his Darling."

"If it's against the rules, I can move," she tensed up.

"You will not," Owen said glaring at Gabe. "You will remain seated and eat your meal."

"Yes Sir," she whispered relaxing into him again.

"Eat Mia," he commanded when he noticed she didn't pick up her sandwich. He looked down and barely nodded, "Mr. Taylor Jr. bring me a knife please."

"What's wrong?" North asked in confusion when he came back with a knife. Owen took the knife then cut the sandwich into four triangles. "Oh, why didn't you say something, Baby?"

"I uh..." she bit her lip.

"It's not a problem, I promise," North said as realization hit him, "Gabe doesn't like crust and Luke likes his with no crust and two triangles."

"Okay," she whispered. "Sorry."

"There is nothing to be sorry for," he winked as he walked off towards the kitchen with the knife.

She picked up the triangle, took a bite and scooted side to side in happiness making Owen let slip a smirk as he held her. "So freaking cute," Luke smiled.

"Like?" North asked as he came back into the room.

"She's doing a happy dance so I would say so," Luke chuckled as she popped a cucumber into her mouth and nodded.

She signed thank you and North nodded, "You're welcome, Baby."

"What happened with the hospital?" Owen asked Sean. "What were you able to find out? You seemed like you did not know she was hired back on."

"I didn't know," Sean shook his head. "After she went to work, I headed to my office to investigate. It appears that after she was fired, it got back to Dr. Roberts and he had the board do an investigation without letting me know. Which is fine, because you know I'd rather let him handle all of that anyway, I'd rather be with the patients. He pulled up the cameras and even looked into all of her reports. Turns out that Dr. Matteo has not only been sleeping with various nurses and doctors but he was also sleeping with the lady in HR so all of Mia's reports were not being looked at properly and why it had been going on for so long. As you know, Dr. Roberts also knows about Karen, and he was there during the divorce proceedings, so he knew what she brought to Mia was false. He has the board doing a deep investigation into every staff member and Dr. Matteo has lost his license since after I fired him, it came to light that he has been blackmailing numerous doctors to get ahead. Since I had notified other hospitals of his attitude after witnessing the incident with Mia and now the investigation and losing his license he has left the country. I've asked Corey to notify all of my contacts in other countries so they can be aware and spread the word on him and his associates as well."

"Oh my goodness," Mia gasped. "He'll never be able to work again as a doctor."

"Good," Owen nodded.

"Thank you," Mia whispered making Sean smile.

"Of course, Pookie. It's not just for you, it's for all female staff and patients, he's a horrible man." She smiled and leaned back into Owen. He picked up the last triangle and held it out for her to take a bite. "Anyway, since the board was cleaning up the hospital and trying to get better staff, they decided to rehire Dr. Gillyard and before they had a chance to have a proper discussion with her, they got swapped and just asked her to come in. According to Dr. Roberts they were supposed to talk to her about easing back into the hectic hours but never got the chance."

Mia nodded, "We had five multiple car crashes, a bus flipped causing multiple injuries to the passengers and other vehicles, the flu is going around, and other typical accidents in the ER. It's understandable."

"So, what happened with that asshole Dr?" Axel asked coming into the house. "Hey Doll."

"Mr. Toma," she smiled softly.

"What asshole?" Raven asked getting upset. "I kill him, I professional Russian."

"You aren't killing anyone, Raven." Corey shook his head. "Mia wouldn't like it."

"Fine," Raven pouted. "Only for Doc Kitten."

"Blackbourne asked us to come get Doll from the hospital because she was too tired to drive. When I got there, this slut of a nurse was trying to tell Doll she had to assist in surgery. Doll tried telling her she was in no condition to assist and ask who was on call," Axel explained. "They told her no one and she was needed immediately then kept trying to hit on me. It was so annoying."

"He told her he was taken but she wouldn't listen until he was very rude and icy to her," Mia nodded. "She actually flinched from his tone. He sounded a lot like you in your meetings, Daddy."

"Good," Owen nodded, "hopefully she got the message."

"I doubt it," she shook her head. "Joyce hates being rejected, she sees it as a challenge and even more so now that she saw he was there with me. She hates that I'm above her and did so without sleeping my way to the top."

"I'll make sure she is investigated as well," Sean mumbled. "So, Axel called me while you and her were having the discussion—"

"More like argument," Axel mumbled.

"And told me what was going on," Sean said shaking his head. "I immediately left my office to come up there and when I walked in I saw Dr. Gillespe yelling at Mia for trying to leave. She told him that she was in no condition to work, and he pretty much tried to demean her and force her to work anyway and tell her she had no right to contact me. He was livid that she wasn't listening to his demands and tried to stand up for herself. I stepped in and corrected him immediately then snapped at her for still being there. I apologize Mia, it was strictly to show authority and to try and make it seem like you weren't getting special treatment even though you are my favorite doctor."

"I know," she nodded, "Axel warned me ahead of time, so it wasn't such a shock seeing you so harsh." She turned to Owen, "he definitely has some of your attitude when talking to stupid people."

"I know," Owen barely smirked. "I'm just glad it didn't trigger you, Darling."

"Me too," Sean nodded. "He has been fired so you don't have to worry about him anymore." She nodded, "And if it is okay with you, I would like to work there while you ease back into it to make sure everything goes smoothly from now on. I would be on a different floor than you but still be there."

She bit her lip then nodded "Okay, thank you."
