Chapter 5

We walk back into camp and Daryl starts yelling for Merle to come over and help him.
"Merle get ya ugly ass out here, got us some squirrel" daryl yelled.

"Daryl hold up a sec" I yelled to him.

"Daryl we need a chat" Shane said walking up to Daryl.

"What bout" Daryl said turning round to face me and Shane.

"About Merle" I said looking to him.

"What about merle" Daryl said looking to me with slight concern spreading across his face.

"There was a problem in Atlanta"Shane said looking at Daryl putting his hand on his hips.

"Is he dead?" Daryl asked him.
"We are not sure" was Shane's reply and he was right we didn't know.

"Well he is or he ain't" Daryl snaps at him anger building in his voice.

"What the hell happened out there Shan" Daryl snapped stepping forward to me.

Rick grabs me out the way standing in front of me.
"There is no easy way to say it so I will just say it" Rick said looking at Daryl.

"And you are?" Daryl asked looking the new guy over.

"Rick Grimes" Rick replied.

"Rick Grimes, you got something you want to tell me" Daryl asked him

"Your brother he was a danger to us all, so I handcuffed him to the roof hooked to a piece of metal and he got left there"

"His still there" I said sounding hopeful though deep down I was picturing the worse.

"Okay so let me process this, You're saying you handcuffed my brother to a roof and you left him there?!" Daryl shouted angrily.

"Yeah" Rick said with a nod.

Daryl turns around and within seconds spins back throwing the squirrels he caught at Rick. we all duck and Daryl goes for Rick.
Shane runs at Daryl and knocks him to the floor.
I stand there in shock at watching what was happening in front of me.
Daryl lays there and pulls his knife out it holster and gets up
"Watch the knife" I screamed at Rick.
Daryl starts trying to go for Rick with his knife and Rick kept dodging it
Shane grabs Daryl in a choke hold as Rick disarms Daryl.

"You best let me go" Daryl spat.

"Nah think it best not" shane tells him as they fall on the floor.

"Choke hold is illegal" Daryl informed Shane.

"Well you can file a complaint" Shane retorted.

Rick picks up Daryls knife and hands it to me with a smile before walking over to Daryl I put the knife in the back of my boot.
"I'd like to have a calm discussion on this topic. Do you think we can manage that"
Daryl nods his head and Rick looks to Shane nodding his head telling Shane to let go of Daryl.

Shane let's go of Dary and they get up off the floor.
"What I did was not on a whim Your brother does not work and play well with others." Rick explained to Daryl.

"It wasn't Ricks thought, I dropped the key" Tdog said walking over to us.

"And you couldn't pick it up" Daryl asked him.

"I dropped it in the drain" Tdog explained.

"If it's supposed to make me feel better, it don't." Daryl sighed.

"Well maybe this will, I stopped long enough to chain the door closed to the roof to stop geeks getting to him"

"That's gotta count for something. right daryl" I said looking at him

"to hell with all Y'all, just tell me where he his so I can go get him" Daryl said his voice breaking.

"I will come with you" I said looking over to Daryl.

"Rick will show you, isn't that right" lori said looking at Daryl then to Rick

"Yes I'm going back" Rick informed the group.

I'm in my tent when Daryl sticks his head in.
"You decent" he said looking in.

"Well be to late if I weren't considering your looking at me" I said with a chuckle .

"You don't have to come you know" Daryl said

"Daryl I want to, I've always felt I owe you after you saving me and taking me in so to speak, and this feels like a way to pay you off. by getting your brother back. he might be a jerk but his your jerk. I want to help" I said.

"Okay fine, I want you to stay close no running off, I don't want to lose you, right" Daryl said in a raspy voice he sounded kind of sexy and it made me feel a little shivery.

"You have my word mr Dixon" I said patting his upper arm. I look at him and he smiles at me looking into my eyes.
He looked at me like he was thinking or contemplating something.
He steps forward when Lori calls out from outside my tent.

"Shannon" She called.

"Yeah" I said still looking at Daryl not moving.

"Yeah, need a quick word before you go" she said walking in.

Daryl walks backward taking two steps
"I will be in camp" he said walking off.

I look to lori knowing where this conversation was going
"Yeah, we need to talk, about yesterday, about what you saw" Lori informed me.

"Yeah I knew that's what you want, I've been expecting it. even more now Rick turned up out the blue" I said looking at her in the eyes.

"What you saw it was" she tried explaining.

"Come on lori, don't you dare start the whole it was a mistake. you thought he was dead" I said staring her down.

"I did" she explained.

"Yeah so let's say Rick died and the world was norma, no turn. would you of jumped in the sack with Shane then within a month of Rick dying?" I questioned her.

She looks at me in the eye and looks away
"I thought not, look lori, if your hear to stop me telling Rick. well you know what your secret is safe, for now" I informed her.

She goes to walk out of the tent and I call her back.
"Lori, you need to tell Rick. this secret will have a way of coming out one way or another" lori walks out and I put my hair up into a messy bun.

Within minutes of Lori leaving Rick calls me from outside my tent and in he comes.

"God I'm miss popular" I laughed looking at him. he looked at me confused.

"I've come to apologise for everything this morning. I thought I'd apologise for the way things went with you boyfriend"
I look at Rick confused for a second and I laugh
"Have I missed something" Rick said with a chuckle.'

"No, Daryl and me we are not together. we are just friends" I informed him.
"Oh, I just thought, because you to are very close, my mistake" he smiled.

"No it's okay I swear" I said with a smile.

Rick looks at me with a smile, Rick was now in his sheriff uniform I look at him and realise how good looking he was.

"Shannon isn't it" Rick asked.

"Yes it is" I nodded.

"Rick grimes" Rick said extending his hand to me.
"Shannon Scott" I said taking his hand
when I touched his hand it gave me butterfly's and sent shock waves over my entire body
I look at Rick and he stares at me I look into them blue eyes. I then felt stupid as I still had hold of his hand so I let go.
"Well nice to meet you" I said "we better get ready to go"

We walk outside the tent with eyes of Lori andShane looking at me and Rick we walk over to the truck and Daryl started beeping the horn
"Come on let's go" he said standing in the truck
He hold out his hand for me and he helps me into the truck.

Glenn was in the drivers seat which made me smile.
Glenn knew the city pretty well and I had been on a run with him and I felt safe knowing he knew his way around.
T dog climbs in the back and closed the shutter and sat down. a minute or two later Rick climbed in next to Glenn and off we went.
