The brisk winter air pulled at the snowflakes that covered the ground. Gentle paw steps crept closer to the giant rock mass.

Lilyleaf's eyes narrowed, squinting against the harsh wind, the wind that tugged at her fur as she glided ever closer to the cliffside. The snow was going to be disheartening on the way home.

Her claws worked in and out of the soft snow as she walked. She still felt something missing on the plains.

From the tips of her whiskers to the bottom of her pads she ached to be home. "I wish I hadn't became a medicine cat," she hissed out into the cold night air. The clouds began to gather around the moon slowly covering the stars, but strangely only a single little wisp actually covered the moon. It was like a single claw of an evil warrior showing her the way. But only to lead her into a trap.

Sometimes she asked herself why she even listened to the big brown tom who her leader. He didn't even take her advice! Her white paws shuffled angrily in the snow. It was so hard to do anything right with him. It was almost as if he didn't even believe in her. Or herbs for that matter.

The cliffs had drew ever closer. Her whiskers turned towards the sky, looking for even a single glimpse of a star. The clouds covered them all.

Then the she-cat stopped her grumbling and thought to why she had came here in the middle of the night. Leaving behind her warm nest and home, she had wandered out into the cold night air to seek guidance from her ancestors.

The highstones were as they always were, not too vibrant or amazing. Sure the first time an apprentice comes up here it's different. But as the clan medicine cat, she came here almost every quarter moon. Lillyleaf rolled her shoulders and fluffed up her neck fur.

It was her time to speak with the warriors of Starclan. She shivered thinking of the long travel down to the moonstone, where cats could only feel and their pads touching the soft yet queer smooth stone. And the occasional brush of whiskers against the wall of the cave.

Lilyleaf approached the Mothermouth. She took a deep breath of the cold and brisk leaf-bare air. Her chest tightened as she entered the Mothermouth feeling the familiar flight sensation she got whenever she went underground. The soft light of the moon soon faded quickly making her vision black and unreadable.

The time passed slowly, the echoes of her pawsteps the only sound. Sooner or later she reached the Moonstone. It glowed faintly as the light of the moon hit the queer stone. Lilyleaf glided forward towards the stone, her whole body numb from the cold.

Slowly she touched her nose to the cold stone, and the small impact sent a small shiver through her spine that made her fur prick up, then simultaneously she fell into a light sleep.

She slowly awoke in a field, but the sky was blood red. Two clans faced off in battle. A voice sounded in the ear, one that she didn't recognize.

"Three will rise, two will become, and one shall destroy," the voice whispered softly. It sounded raspy and clouded, but the words were clear. Lilyleaf watched as the cats began to fight. But it was unlike any fight she had ever seen before. The warriors were unfair. They were at each other's throats, she realized with horror, and they were all aiming to kill.

'What could be driving these cats to crave blood?' Lilyleaf asked herself with horror. The prophecy repeated itself over and over again in her ears, making this moment seem even more real.

One body fell after the next. This blood shed was unnecessary and pointless. Countless cats were dying. A huge brown tom battled across the valley. Covering it in blood. His fur dotted with blood. His claws open and glinting in the soft glow of the fading red sun. Quickly, he lunged for his next opponent, but the tom ducked, and caught the brown tom in his jaws landing the killing blow...

Lilyleaf's eyes snapped open. She pulled her nose off of the cold stone. She felt electric, even though she has seen what could have been the end. The cold forgotten she raced through the tunnel and out of the highstones. Her trek slowed as the snow got heavier. After the long walk across the windswept plains, Lilyleaf had gotten to her Clan. The words of the prophecy still echoing in her ears.
