Chapter 2

Cassandra's POV

We were sitting in the grass. Varian introduced me to all of his friends. But i really dont trust hugo. "So any new things you've discovered?" Varian asks. "Oh yeah! I actually found some ancient scrolls that i still need to decipher but overall, i have discovered a lot." I say back to him. "Thats great! We actually discovered a lot, too! The trials have been so hard but so fun!" He says. "Did you guys get to the eternal library?" I ask. He looks away. "You guys did, right?" I ask. "Oh we did but... it wasn't as good as a place as we thought..." he says, avoiding eye contact. " dont talk about it if you dont want to." I say to him. "Sorry its just.. a hard thing to talk about thats all..." he says. Hugo walks up to him and leans agains him. I get my sword ready to attack him but varian puts a hand up.

Varian's POV

I put my hand up to stop Cassandra. "Why are you becoming so clingy?" I whisper to him. " he hugs me and stuffs his face in my hair. I roll my eyes but grab one of his hands and squeeze it reassuringly. "Cassie dont worry its fine." I say to Cassandra. "If you say so..." she says puting her sword back but keeping a firm grasp on the hilt of the sword. Nuru runs up to us. "Varian..." she says. "What happened?" I say to her. "Yong lanched off a firework into the middle of the woods..." she says figeting with her hands. I take a deep breath. I let go of hugo. "Dont do anything your gonna regret, goggles.." hugo says to me. "Where. Is. He." I ask with a firm tone. Nuru points to an area in the woods where theres smoke. I start marching towards where the smoke is coming from with nuru following behind me. 

Hugo's POV

Why did varian leave me with this this short, sassy woman. "Listen here." She says with a strict tone. I roll my eyes. She pushes me down to the ground and puts her sword to my neck. "Rule one: always expect everything." She says with a strict tone.i suddenly kick her down and pin her to the ground with my boot. "Dont assume shit about me." I say glaring at her. She sighs. "Im sorry. Im just worried about varian." She says. "Rule 5:  never expose weakness to your enemy." I say, smirking. She glares daggers into my soul. i step off of her. "You okay?" I ask her, reaching a hand out. She raises an eyebrow at me. "Im not heartless." I say with a annoyed tone. She hesitantly takes my hand and i pull her up. There is suddenly a big explosion from the woods. She goes to run over to the woods but i pull her back before she can. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING THEY COULD BE HURT" she screams at me. "Just wait for it.. its fine they're tough nuts." I say to her. She glares at me then i hear varian arguing with yong. "On second thought..." i say, cringing at my last words. We run over then we see.. sharp black rock coming of of the ground near varian? Cassandras eyes widen. "VARIAN!" she calls out. Even more rock sporut of almost hitting me and Cassandra. We both dodged them before they got too close. A bunch of rocks surround Varian. "GOGGLES ITS OKAY. JUST STAY CALM" i call out to him. All of a sudden, the rocks pull him into the ground. "VARIAN" Cassandra calls out running over to the area varian was in before. Me, Yong, and Nuru are frozen in shock. She takes a deep breath and jumps down into the hole. 

Cassandra's POV

Im using one of my daggers to go down carefully without plummeting to my death.i hear something come from above me and something goes flying past me.i see its a rope.i look up and see Nuru looking down at me smiling. "Is it connected to anything?" I yell to her. "It should be fine its secure up here." She yells back. I grab into the rope and start to slide down. After a while i reach the ground and its so deep its hard to see sunlight when looking up. I start walking through the tunnel. How did he get he get the moonstone? How did his outfit not change into the black rocks? Why wasn't all of his hair blue? Will he go evil? Once i reach where varian is, hes out of the black rocks and is curled into a ball against the wall. "Varian?.." i say. He looks up at me. He has tears in his eyes but wipes them away when i get close. I sit down next to him.  "When.. did you find the..." i start. "The moonstone? A night or two ago. I was having a really bad headache when i found it. It just felt like i was supposed to be with it.." he mumbles. Weird. Thats never how i felt. "Have you taken it off?"i ask. "No and ive tried. Its kinda stuck to me." He says, still looking down. "Do you think you could have the rocks bring us up?" I aks trying to lighen the mood. "Oh i think i can!" he says, excited. He makes a hand gesture and we get launched up. Both of us scream and laugh.
